How we went from these photos, taken four years ago, to where we are today is nothing short of a miracle.

The entrepreneur journey is WILD. And it’s even wilder when you’ve had a 9–5 the ENTIRE time. On top of everything else. 😫

Imani, Tau, Nick and Camille — I wouldn’t trade y’all for the world. A true family-owned business, built by friends who are pretty much all the same in one important way: we stay head down, work in the background, and get shit done.

We don’t really share our founders’ story much. Maybe we should. Because if we’re being honest, we’re probably leaving a lot this “multiple streams of income” “black excellence” money on the table. 😂🙄🫣

But at the end of the day… Shanklin Hall is, without question, one of my greatest accomplishments.

I’m still in awe that we built this. 😳

To the women who made this possible —
Shanklin Hall exists because of you.

Before there were sold out nights, before the music, before the crowd, before there was even a space — there were Mamas who said yes.

Women who lent us money when the vision only existed in conversation. Who showed up before there was staff. Who brought cookies to Founders’ meetings. Who bragged on us to friends and family to help secure investors. Who danced in rooms they helped build with faith alone.

Women who answered every panicked phone call, talked us off every ledge, prayed over this place, and reminded us who we were whenever exhaustion tried to make us forget.

You didn’t just support Shanklin Hall.
You willed it into existence.

Black mothers have always been architects of impossible things. They love loudly, sacrifice quietly, stretch what little they have, and somehow still create abundance for everyone around them. Entire communities stand because Black women decided they would.

Shanklin Hall carries your fingerprints. Your resilience. Your belief.

Happy Mother’s Day to our Mamas. Thank you for helping us build something greater than ourselves. Can you believe we’re celebrating our 3rd Anniversary this month!

And to Maia and Imani — Happy Mother’s Day to you both as well. We know that raising your own humans while continuing to pour into Shanklin Hall is no small thing, but you do it with so much grace, love, and strength.

We love you endlessly.
