.Such a beautiful Portuguese Water Dog Rescue dood Assistance Dog, I had the pleasure to photograph. Bob was incredibly patient and his wry smile amused me. A beautiful presence on an unexpected day.

Re post from• @doodnamedbob The amazing @nicolaslaborie dropped off my picture yesterday at work and I am over the moon🌙 at how good I look😎in a Victorian photograph. This was a very special gift to my mum and she can’t wait to highlight the work in a forthcoming capsule exhibition @thekennelclubukcollections .
Nic is a London based commercial photographer 📸 and videographer and is specialist in wet plate collodion (1860s) Victorian photography practices.

This unique Victorian photographic process is such a volatile, time sensitive and delicate art form, where every steps need attention, be the temperature of the chemicals, the coating of the plate or sensitising it in silver nitrate.
Its beauty is in its imperfections.

An amazing exhibition I am grateful to have my work from the Lilith spells series alongside prestigious artists like Yinka Shonibare, Sally Mann, Mark Dion, Ingrid Pollard, Polly Morgan, Kate MccGwire, Heather Agyeon,Tessa Farmer and Andrew Gilbert to name but a few, as well as Victorian taxidermy and images by 19th-century practitioners like John James Audubon and Julia Margaret Cameron. The exhibition invites viewers to rediscover the Victorians through contemporary paintings, sculptures, and photographs that reimag(in)e them in ‘the present’.

From taxidermy and photography to forgotten lives and colonial histories, this exhibition explores how leading contemporary artists reimagine the Victorians in their work. By exploring how artists creatively respond to the 19th century, the exhibition asks why its legacies still matter today.
