Being back at school and work in the HD everyone’s been asking how summer was, and I’ve been honest with them summer was hard. My depression came back with a vengeance once the semester ended and my manner of coping was and is atrocious. That’s not to say those around me didn’t help or weren’t there for me, everyone was and was great, but mental health is what it is. Still had ongoing family issues (some of my own stringent moral beliefs). Osa, the dog I was raising died unexpectedly and was a very brutal passing for her and for me. My Aunt Ruth died, my first year in Alaska when I didn’t have anyone she was there for me and very close (although I hated how you liked your pizzas). The man who fostered my love of education and history died, and all 3 of those things happened all within a month of each other, 2 of them in the same week. Now I’m back and everyone is being nice and great and I’m sure my mental health will stabilize like it always does when I’m back in school, but my class schedule of 20 credits, 15 of them graduate designed or level classes I’m sure will take it’s pound of flesh from me. So if I drop off the map again, be nice and patient with me it’s most likely the reason. Or because I told an AI grifter he’s a cuck. Or just as likely I got arrested for my political beliefs and praxis. Anyways, good fucking riddance summer, hello my final undergrad semester. by @nictheslick

It has really saddened me to have learned that Mr. Beck has recently passed. Mr. Beck was almost exclusively responsible for my love for history and the reason I have been pursuing my history degree. He instilled this curiosity in me, almost this ravenous hunger to learn as much as I can about why things are the way they are that stuck with me through highschool and decades later as I will soon be pursuing a masters and possibly further. I remember walking into his class and he regularly would play Jimi Hendrix and ā€œAll along the watchtowerā€ and challenging my learning that I was never afraid to always ask questions. He even had a very nuanced take on Palestine-Israel decades ago that still holds. I was blessed to have miraculously ran into him and got to tell him the impression he left on me and his teaching of history and that I was essentially following his footsteps, and I’m told my words moved him deeply. If everyone is the sum of the experiences and impressions I am the sum of what Mr. Beck has taught me. by @nictheslick

My father once told me the best thing about coaching was the relationships you make in and out of it and that has been true. I still talk and hangout with many of the athletes I once coached but Melanie has been one of them that I’ve had the honor of see them grow for almost a decade. I remember her as a skittish teenager and highschooler unsure if they liked running (I’m sure she did in the end), to her high school graduation, I had the honor of being a classmate of hers for a year, and now have seen her graduate college. Melanie is brilliant, caring, articulate, and most importantly a good person. It has truly been a blessing seeing her grow and earn her BA, I know she’s going to do well in grad school and is fast on her way to being an immigration lawyer further proving her good nature. I am very proud on every level (also she’s become a Marxist which I’m also proud of! šŸ˜‚) by @nictheslick

Things are accelerating everyday and the contradictions have never been wider, as the Black Panthers would say, but in my life we have never seen a more adept and class conscious people unified in the struggle. Community and solidarity is growing minute by minute day by day and tomorrow the people use our best weapon in a general strike. Whether it succeeds or fails, we sharpen our class consciousness and solidarity to better use our tools for a better world. ā€œIf you dare to struggle, you dare to win. If you dare not struggle, then damn it, you don’t deserve to win.ā€ -Fred Hampton by @nictheslick

Yesterday we say what America has always done and always has been good at: using violence and force to suppress the people. Renee Good is yet another victim of a reactionary fascist regime and its tool, ICE. What we are dealing with today is nothing new, as Marxist Antonio Gramsci fought and organized for a better future, and we can take his own history and insight on how to move forward today as people. Educate your friends, neighbors, and family about the fight as to develop class consciousness. Agitate the reactionary forces of ICE and the police state. And most importantly organize, as a united people can never be divided and defeated. That is the path forward in this age of the old world dying and a better world being born in its place. by @nictheslick

Today I wanted to talk about some of the contradictions inherent in liberalism primarily in regards to foreign policy vs domestic policy and why many Marxists, socialist, and myself are so vocal in their condemnation and calling out these contradictions. Marxists and socialists are not perfect in their ideology at all, but they still try to address the contradictions inherent in capitalism by attacking it and in turn the super structure and base it is built on including how capitalism makes us view and treat others and even ourselves. I may do a part 2, as there are countless contradictions associated with liberalism and capitalism but leave a comment, share, repost, but most importantly educate and organize 🫔 by @nictheslick

I was inspired by a dear friend to make this, but I also feel obligated to. If we want a better world, we need to fight for it. If we want change, we need to get involved and change it. Real change takes some sacrifice and the necessary inconvenience of community because we need to join together and fight against not just this current regime, but the system of capitalism and its starts with class consciousness and a general strike. I encourage you participate, educate, and agitate. We all don’t need to take on the world, but do a small part. As Karl Marx said ā€œEach to their own, according to their abilityā€ and I plan on doing my part, I hope you do as well. by @nictheslick

It’s been a minutes since I got political with my own posts but I do not care about October 7. Palestine has been put down, subjugated, treated like second class citizens in their own land, expelled, indentured, and massacred for almost 150 years. From the British to the Americans and Israelis, Palestine had struggled and resisted and kept strong. Their fight is one for home. Their fight is against colonization and imperialism. Their fight is against capitalism. You cannot fight those forces peacefully, and anything less is nativity. Supporting Palestine is understanding all those interconnected forces working together to subjugate them, and in turn you. The tools of the empire eventually come home, and the working class needs to realize that. Americans, need to realize that. Foster class solidarity, build support. No war but class war. From the river to the sea. taken in Quds News by @nictheslick

Alaska will always have a special place in my heart and so will two of these people (you know what you did Nick). Angelina I loved our talks, putting together the puzzle (even if I did maybe 20% of it you’re too good), and watching The Office sometimes till 4am. Schuyler it was good doing all the nothings we used to do back in our Juneau days, even if we basically had an unofficial checklist of all the good restaurants we had to go to haha. Alaska is amazing but the people I’ve met mean more to me and I will always love them. taken in Anchorage, Alaska by @nictheslick
