can we have a chat about social media + perspective?

we follow people that we have known since elementary school, we may see their accomplishments & think “wow, they sure are living a great life”. we may even mindlessly scroll through those same friends real life situations while sipping our morning coffee, & we offer a “I’m so sorry to hear that!” And move onto the next thing… while we normalize their grief, the thing that almost took them from this earth.

I believe that we do that in our own lives as well. Sometimes we can get used to having so many setbacks, that we don’t sit in them & reflect on the journey they’ve taken us through or our prayers that allowed us to endure them. because we are so ready to move on from the discomfort of it all.. & forget the pain.

If you are like me, you may have archived the things that make you cringe, the things that you wish the world would have never known about you or your life. because who wants to remember THAT?

The highlight reel is something that I let go of a long time ago, however, sometimes I go back to my private photo album so that I can remind myself of how great my life has actually been + what I’ve accomplished in some of the most distressing seasons of my life. it helps.

but what do you do when you are tired of pivoting? How do you show up in the world on a daily basis when your soul is tired?

this is a rhetorical question of course, but it is one that I’ve had to ask myself. & honestly, after the many things that I’ve done there are a lot of wins… there also have been plenty “almosts”. & I’m quite tired of R E S I L I E N C E.

but if I can offer you a different perspective as I speak to myself: all of those things created you & you have alchemized them all to be here sitting & reading this.
