When I booked onto my first open level contemporary workshop at the last minute, I went in with an open mind and no expectations of myself, other than to embrace the challenge, explore a style of dance I'm less familiar with, and soak up the opportunity to learn from the incredible @milliemoves_dance ✨️💕

Little did I know I'd end up doing my first contemporary SOLO and absolutely LOVING every second of it!! 🤯🥳

Was it perfect? Nope! Did it need to be? Not for a second! As evidenced by my scream at the end… pure, unfiltered, childlike JOY! 😂 💕

Millie, your creativity, passion and sheer talent are something else. Thank you for challenging us, pushing us into that beautiful stretch zone where the magic happens, and making the whole experience so utterly EXHILARATING! 🥹 💕

In true @empowerdance_ style, you reminded us that no two dancers are the same. Different strengths, different journeys… but always that same overwhelming sense of encouragement, acceptance and support. Whether it's through the loudest cheers or the quietest moments, this beautiful community never ceases to amaze me! 🫶

It feels like it's been a hot minute since I posted anything on social media, so what better way to make a comeback than with a little Michael Jackson? 🕺✨

My parents taught me that love is love and that everyone deserves kindness, respect and the freedom to be themselves.

It never occurred to me growing up that this would still be something people would have to fight for decades later.

This Pride Month, I'm celebrating my LGBTQ+ friends and loved ones, and the courage it can take to live authentically in a world that isn't always as accepting as it should be.

What an absolutely glorious morning at @bethksclasses ✨️ Commercial Workshop 🥳

@beth.ks_ ✨️, thank you for bringing us so much energy, enthusiasm, creativity and encouragement. Your talent is incredible and you made everyone feel capable, confident and inspired to just let go and enjoy every second 🫶

I most definitely did just that, had the absolute best time and left feeling uplifted, empowered and full of joy. We are so lucky to have you as part of the @empowerdance_ family 💕

How is it even possible that the earth has completed one full revolution around its star without you on it? For much of that time, I could barely accept this reality...how does someone even begin to contemplate life on earth without their mummy? 💔

As acceptance has slowly become part of my grief, there have been moments I have longed for the denial again. The heartbreak can make it hard to breathe. Then, as I take that next breath, I hear you in the birds, I find Dad in the breeze, and I feel with all of my being that unconditional love that gave me life 💕 ✨️

It’s then that I can remember to do what we all did on the day we celebrated your life…put on my red shoes and dance. I know you and Dad will be doing the very same thing, with all the other incredible souls who have danced on this planet 💖

I’ve been sharing a lot more on social media recently… and seeing this footage for the first time made me want to share a bit more about this special journey ✨️

Late last summer, at the age of 47, I walked into my very first dance class at @empowerdance_

I had no formal dance experience and absolutely no idea what to expect.
If I’m honest, I nearly didn’t go in.

Imposter syndrome was loud.

Too old.
Too unfit.
Too late to start something like this.

So when I did walk through the door, I did what felt safest.
I hid at the back.

But these incredible women had other ideas.

Little by little they pushed me forward, encouraged me, lifted me up and reminded me of something I’d forgotten for a while… who I am.

Who my parents raised me to be.

Because long before I ever stepped into a dance studio, my mum and dad taught me what dancing really is.

Not about perfection.
Not about looking a certain way.
Just joy 💗

To the friends and loved ones who have walked beside me throughout my life, including my darkest times, you’ve always known this side of me.

Someone who is first on the dance floor, giving it everything and dancing purely for the love of it.
I feel like I’m becoming her again.

So… three months after my first class, I found myself on stage in front of ninety people, wearing fishnets and a white shirt, about to perform — heart pounding, adrenaline through the roof.

Terrified… but also completely alive.

Now that I’ve seen the video back?

I smashed it! 🎤

There aren’t enough words to describe the gratitude I feel toward these women, but I hope they all know just how lucky I feel to have them in my life 🫶

From the back of the room to the front of the stage… turns out the joy my parents taught me never left. I just had to dance my way back to it 💕

Yesterday was our three year anniversary of saying goodbye to our amazing dad and our first Christmas without our beautiful mummy. Although our hearts continue to ache beyond words, we made some once in a lifetime memories last night, and I feel like they were there with us to witness this spectacular display ✨️ ❤️ 💫💕 taken in Aurora Hunting by @nikkibbb21
