Thirty years ago today, in the suspended moments before the doors opened at Nylon in Helsinki, a new era was waiting to breathe. We were about to launch the very first Club Unity.

We were a group of friends who had spent years weaving magic in the shadows of underground raves, but this was our leap into a traditional club space. The name Unity wasn’t chosen lightly. It was born from a deep desire to capture a fleeting, beautiful feeling: that pure, all-embracing magic of an afterhours dancefloor, finally brought into the light.

That first night belonged entirely to the journey. DJ Orkidea played open to close—a marathon set inspired by the legendary odysseys of Paul van Dyk and Sven Väth at the Love Parade.

The three decades since have been a beautiful blur of sound, light, and shared heartbeats. We poured our souls into countless Unity parties across Nylon, Royal Cotton Club, and Uunisaari. We hosted international Renaissance events and surrendered to those hedonistic, sun-drenched Sunday Sun nights at DTM. Together, we toured the country, launched a record label with Slusnik Luna’s Sun, had our own radio show, transformed Serena into the oasis of Pacifique, and brought pioneers like Jose Padilla, Paul Oakenfold, and Sasha to Finnish shores. We even bridged worlds by organizing the very first Classical Trancelations alongside Lowland and the Misc brothers.

But beyond the legendary names and the unforgettable venues, the true, rhythmic heart of Unity has always been its people. It began with a circle of friends pouring their raw energy and creativity into a shared dream, and it blossomed into a breathtaking community of dancers. You filled those floors. You created an atmosphere that simply couldn’t be replicated anywhere else.

Three decades of rhythm, connection, and pure unity. Thank you for dancing with us for 30 unforgettable years. by @nikopietari

Junan odotusta Telakan terassilla, missä tulee käytyä melkein aina Tampereella käydessä.

Aika rientää pelottavaa vauhtia. Älysin juuri että siitä on 30 vuotta kun tuli esiinnyttyä tuolla yläkerran näyttämöllä Oginskin poloneesi näytelmällä mikä alun perin tehtiin Teatteri Jurkkaan. Olimme muistaakseni ensimmäinen (tai toinen) esitys siellä. Realiteetit ajan kululle antaa tuo takanani näkyvä puu. Se istutettiin silloin tuohon keskelle terassia.

when you boycotted the previous World Cup and you realize that you haven't really watched World Cup football for eight years and even though everything in this world and especially in FIFA and the US administration is fucked up, you can't boycott forever and besides what my boycott did to Qatar's human rights situation. well, it makes me watch these games on TV and online, which are shown in Finland at night, and during the day I try to work and go watch Finnish top-level matches live (HJK-KuPS) with my son and immediately after that I start watching the World Cup again. luckily the Helsinki Cup (one of the biggest junior tournaments in the world) starts next week, where both of my children are playing, so I can't forget about football then either. I need a vacation soon and peace of mind even though I love the sport. Fußball ist leben. Leben ist Fußball. #footballtime #worldcup2026 #life #semester #streamofconsciousness by @nikopietari
