Thirty years ago today, in the suspended moments before the doors opened at Nylon in Helsinki, a new era was waiting to breathe. We were about to launch the very first Club Unity.

We were a group of friends who had spent years weaving magic in the shadows of underground raves, but this was our leap into a traditional club space. The name Unity wasn’t chosen lightly. It was born from a deep desire to capture a fleeting, beautiful feeling: that pure, all-embracing magic of an afterhours dancefloor, finally brought into the light.

That first night belonged entirely to the journey. DJ Orkidea played open to close—a marathon set inspired by the legendary odysseys of Paul van Dyk and Sven Väth at the Love Parade.

The three decades since have been a beautiful blur of sound, light, and shared heartbeats. We poured our souls into countless Unity parties across Nylon, Royal Cotton Club, and Uunisaari. We hosted international Renaissance events and surrendered to those hedonistic, sun-drenched Sunday Sun nights at DTM. Together, we toured the country, launched a record label with Slusnik Luna’s Sun, had our own radio show, transformed Serena into the oasis of Pacifique, and brought pioneers like Jose Padilla, Paul Oakenfold, and Sasha to Finnish shores. We even bridged worlds by organizing the very first Classical Trancelations alongside Lowland and the Misc brothers.

But beyond the legendary names and the unforgettable venues, the true, rhythmic heart of Unity has always been its people. It began with a circle of friends pouring their raw energy and creativity into a shared dream, and it blossomed into a breathtaking community of dancers. You filled those floors. You created an atmosphere that simply couldn’t be replicated anywhere else.

Tässäpä maailman vahvimmat (ja tässä pallero-maatuskamuodossaan ehkä myös maailman söpöimmät) voimamiehet Markku ja Ilkka. 💪🏼

TV-ohjelma oli Vintiöt ja hahmojen näyttelijöinä @sikajukka Kari Hietalahti ja @nikopietari Niko Saarela.

Ollaan muistettu nämä hahmot aina ihan jo siksikin, että edesmenneellä koirallamme oli isosta paidasta tehty vanulla täytetty peti, joka muistutti näiden voimamiesten paitoja, ja siksi ekan pedin nimi oli Ilkka ja toisen Markku.

Taiteilijallehan kävi sellanen moka, että Ilkan toinen käsi on paljon paksumpi kuin toinen, sovitaan vaikka että täytteet unohtui. 😂
