BLOODLINE

A DEI Horror Comedy

Written by Rebecca Pierce

After being laid off from her job as a DEI consultant in San Francisco, Naomi finds out she’s inherited a mysterious plot of land from her grandmother in rural Missouri. When she gets there she discovers the land is part of a historic plantation that once enslaved her ancestors, and the current co-owners want her help exercising the ghosts of the past.

Nothing can be ignored forever.

Nikki took in a black cat because they are said to bring prosperity.
Cats however are more about being Divas than working Devo. It’s pure MAGIC at incurring vet bills and disrupting meetings.

During a year of technology-driven isolation, political polarization, and attacks on the most marginalized in our society, Z Space and Word for Word continued to make space for community and dialogue through the art of storytelling.

We invite you to break out of the algorithm and join Z Space and Word for Word for even more programming designed to foster connection in 2026!

When you make a tax-deductible donation of any size, you ensure this vital home for empathy and connection lives on for generations to come. AND when you give before the end of our fiscal year on December 31, you will be invited to our Break the Algorithm Party in January designed to bring us together in community and kick off a new year of bold, risky new plays.

Clockwise from the top left-

Wynne Chan: SF native. Managing Director, Golden Thread ProductionsArtistic Director, Shows.cool Productions and brave soul who signed on to this project just two weeks ago to direct and now we are forcing her to judge! If she’s not doing theater she’s cooking up a storm at home.

The Unicorn: You can’t see her, but she’s there. Judging you. Always. Like Elf on a shelf. But looking for a solid 50/50 ratio of naughty to nice.

Tavis Kammet: Tavis Kammet is a superstar actor appearing in just so many plays. He has multiple theater degrees from England(the best country for acting) and has performed on Shakespeare’s globe theater, for punch drunk theater company, theater du complicite and most importantly, awesome theater. He teaches theater for the money in Hayward.

Rasheed Custer: Rasheed is the best there is at what he does and what he does ain’t pretty....Sex? He wants me to write/say it’s sex? I will not. (Wait! Crap!) He also does all sorts of performing with no sex involved around the SF Bay and serves as “Shark in a Santa Hat” on the Awesome Theatre Board of directors.

Joe Waterman: Joe Waterman is the Co-Founder and Managing Director of Eclectic Box. He enjoys judging others just slightly more than constantly berating himself on the daily. Joe is 5’4, a Pisces (obviously) and will accept bribes for points.

Nikki Menez: Nikki Meñez is a director, choreographer, and arts administrator who is moved to challenge what theater looks like and how stories are told. She’s also a champion at Meow based Cat Karaoke. She also happens to be the Director of New Works for Awesome Theatre. by @nikstagram04
