Recommendations for fans of @thechloegong’s StrangeLoom trilogy ~ 🌀

This week’s assignment for my job over at @nilecorplegal is to assess the competition! Here’s my report:

If you’re into cyberpunk dystopian books, you might also like The Hunger Games trilogy! Tried and true dystopian teen fiction! If you’re a Chloe Gong fan already and a dystopian battle royale in a walled city appeals to you, Immortal Longings! Neuromancer by William Gibson is THE cyberpunk book and from what I hear, he’s the king of it. I won’t lie, I haven’t read this one, but I have read Idoru by Gibson and it fits the bill as well! For anime fans of StrangeLoom’s themes: Akira and Ghost in the Shell! You can read or watch these, they’re classics, you’ll enjoy. For listening while you read, I recommend Badlands by Halsey, Danger Days by My Chemical Romance (there are comics to tie into this album too if you’re into that!!), and Glue by Boston Manor. I also love Welcome to the Neighborhood by Boston Manor for that industrial grungy sound that pairs well with the dystopian aspect of it all :)

The last slide includes my video game recommendation which actually inspired these books in a way, Club Penguin! My favorite game! I’m weaseling it into all these posts lately LOL

Coldwire is a fast-paced cyberpunk adventure that drops you off in the middle of a dystopian future split between two worlds, both currently locked in a cold war between two powerful nations, Atahua and Medaluo. Due to climate and health disasters, people are living their lives between two realities. NileCorp has created a system called StrangeLoom, a virtual reality modeled directly after the real world. The real world is referred to as downcountry, and upcountry is the virtual reality you can enter via pods that keep your real body safe while you’re away.

The sequel to Coldwire, and the second book in the StrangeLoom trilogy, Deadlock, is out on November 17! Which gives you just enough time to read Coldwire first if you haven’t yet, or if you’re due for a reread ;) by @nilecorplegal

WEEK 4 - COMPETITION AT THE COMPANY

we are well into the season now at Nilecorp, and as loyal employees of the company, we must always be analyzing our competitor’s in search of media that resembles our own.

therefore, I present my research of books, shows, and movies that if you have enjoyed in any way, you MUST read Coldwire and pre-order Deadlock!! (this is not a threat but it IS a threat👀)

these similarities include dystopian worlds, climate change making parts of the world inhabitable, corrupt governments and corporations, the reliance on technology, and virtual worlds

disclaimer, I have not read or watched all of these YET, but as a loyal Nileemployee, I have done my research on them to verify their resemblances🫡

Taylor of legal dept signing off for the week…

COMPETITION AT THE COMPANY ♾️

It’s week 4 of NileCorp Season 2 AKA one of the weeks I’ve been looking forward to the most! Do you love everything Cyberpunk? Have you watched shows like these? Read books like these? If you spot anything on this list that you love, then I can guarantee you’ll love both Coldwire and Deadlock! It was fun making this list, and obviously there were some cuts…so honorable mentions include: Tron: Legacy (movie), Total Recall (movie), Altered Carbon (show), Severance (show), Divergent (book), I, Robot (book)

Amazing news from NileCorp Headquarters! I am officially on my reading week for NileUni and therefore finally have time to start reading Deadlock!

I have been SO EXCITED for this book ever since I finished Coldwire, and can’t believe I finally got to read the first page this morning! Notice how I did NOT predict that this one will end on a crazy cliffhanger because that’s NOT happening! I will absolutely definitely totally finally get my peace and be able to sleep at night once I read this and learn what happened to my babies after Coldwire 😌

Anyways, here are some predictions of what I think will happen in Deadlock! NileOracles, am I right or am I right?? And if you are a non-employee and want to discover whether or not I am correct, preorder Deadlock coming November 17 😜

A belated NileCorp post this week, because downcountry is keeping me busy!

However, our dear COO has asked us to take the time to help our very own NileCorp oracles. As I have already read the Deadlock handbook (look how loyal I am!) I thought I would share some of my very serious, very likely predictions for the third installment of StrangeLoom. Don't worry, I've kept the secrets to myself so that no Coalition spies can get their hands on them!

I am notoriously BAD at guessing the plot of books, so bad I didn’t see the COLDWIRE plot twist *at all.* So, to help me provide the Oracles with a sacrifice, I’ve enlisted the help of my cat tarot cards to tell me what’s in store in DEADLOCK (out November 17th!)
My predictions (thanks to the cats):
•The lovers, Lia and Kieren, will have a big quarrrel but will ultimately forgive each and kiss in a very dangerous/romantic spot.
•Lia, the magician, struggles to balance her two worlds. She is a new invention and she will create something new that could save (or destroy) the world and end NileCorp.
•Family issues between Lia/Eirale and her dad will be a big part of the plot. Lia’s ambition to take down NileCorp will put a strain on all her relationships.

THE ORACLES DEMAND SACRIFICE 🔮🎱🥠

It’s week three here at NileCorp, and our new upper executive leadership team AKA the oracles have asked for our predictions for NileCorp’s future.

So here’s what I think will be happening in Deadlock…

My Deadlock Predictions
🤭 Nik & Eirale banter
💥 Explosive action between NileCorp & the Coalition (you can take this literally or figuratively, I predict both)
👀 Lia calls Kieren a weenie
🤯 Plenty more mind blowing twists and secret reveals
😭 A torturous cliffhanger (@thechloegong I’ll send you my therapy bill)
🤖 More dystopian cyberpunk vibes
🫪 Someone gets indisposed
🤩 Some new POVs that we didn’t get in Coldwire

I can’t wait to find out if I’m right and you can find out too by preordering Deadlock and reading it when it comes out on 17th Nov

the oracles demand sacrifice!!! 🔮

our oracle @zluvsreading is hard at work to predict the success of my branch @nilecorplegal !! however, before i begin reading the second handbook (aka DEADLOCK), i am here with a list of MY predictions of things that i think will happen (or that i want to happen)!! i’m absolutely not the best theorizer, but it’s always fun to try to guess!

i just finished my coldwire reread, and everything is still fresh in my mind! our branch head’s genius brain never fails to amaze me. 🙂‍↕️ still in shock and awe over that plot twist!! i still have so many questions!!!! 🤯 excited to start reading deadlock finally!!! 🤭

as always, go preorder DEADLOCK!! out november 17!!!! you, too, can be part of the brilliant minds working at nilecorp!!!
