Untethered.

I’m feeling vulnerable about uploading this piece - but here goes. This poem was written in the wake of my recent breakup. Once it ended, I found myself feeling disoriented, frightened and liberated all at once.

I wanted to illustrate the feeling of broken identity and distorted reality experienced when in a toxic/abusive relationship. I wanted to show the transition from attachment to non-attachment, of being at the cusp between an ending and beginning. I’m in the midst of piecing myself back together and reclaiming my confidence.

Poetry and art have been instrumental in helping me process this experience. I’m rediscovering myself in profound ways, my love of music, exploring new friendships, and deepening my creative practice.

From now on I hope to live for myself and to prioritise my own happiness.
