I just want to extend a massive thank you to everyone that’s been involved in The Socialise Flowers Exhibition!
A massive thank you and congratulations to all of the artists, I am immensely proud of you all and the pieces you contributed to the exhibition, and I hope you are all proud of yourselves!
I am truly honoured to have given you all an opportunity to display your art at Honey Bones Gallery, and it has honestly been the biggest pleasure working with all of you!
I also want to thank Yunus for creating the artwork used in all promotional posts and images and his consistent support and encouragement. A big thank you to all those who made this event possible including the amazing volunteers working on the evening behind the bar and ticket stand who believed in not only the event, but me. The biggest shout out to Olivia Hindmarsh for her consistent support in all areas of set-up and organisation of the exhibition as well as my Father, Paul and his partner Helen who travelled interstate just to be a part of it!
A big thanks as well to videographer Mitchell O’Brien and photographer Annie Harvey, Honey Bones Gallery for providing an amazing gallery space for us and friends and family who have provided consistent support to organisers and artists involved.

It was such a big undertaking for me to manage, promote, organise and run this event, and it was thanks to you all that it was possible. I am truly so proud of myself, and you all!

Don’t forget! The exhibition space is open one last day tomorrow from 12-4pm, don’t miss out on taking home some incredible pieces and supporting some emerging artists!

Today we’re sharing One Thousand Eyes (2019), an incredible short film directed by Nina Blasche. With visceral animation, One Thousand Eyes shines a light on street harassment and violence against women. The film has been screened locally at ACMI and St Kilda Film Festival, and internationally in Athens, Los Angeles and New York.

“Around the making of this film,” Nina explains, “the murders of Eurydice Dixon and Aya Maasarwe swept the news in Melbourne. I wanted to show the reality of the fear women live with every day – how street harassment is a slippery slope to women being objectified, raped and killed”.

Nina Blasche is an animator, illustrator and artist based in Naarm/Melbourne. Like many people in the INAC community, Nina has personally experienced street harassment, which motivated her to create this film. To find out more about Nina and One Thousand Eyes, visit ninaexe.com or find her on Instagram at @nina_exe.

[VD: The short film uses red, black and white illustrations to follow the street harassment faced by a young woman. Men harass her on the street, from cars and at a bar, their bodies contorting into monster-like shapes.]
