Sharing this for anyone in Park Forest, Homewood, Markham, Chicago Heights, Lansing, Steger, Tinley Park, Orland Park, Crete, etc. who’s been coughing nonstop since the tornadoes. I went to Urgent Care because I had a cough, slight fever, green phlegm, laryngitis (lost my voice) and tightness in my chest and back. They ruled out pneumonia, but they said a lot of people are coming in with the same thing. 👉🏽 It’s REACTIVE ACUTE BRONCHITIS from everything the storms threw into the air. Between the dust, debris, mold spores, insulation, and pressure changes, our lungs are irritated. Not dangerous, not dramatic — just inflammation from breathing in all that mess. I’m sharing this because a lot of us are still cleaning up, working, running errands, and trying to get life back on track while coughing our heads off. If you’re feeling it too, you’re not alone. ⚡UPDATE: WE ARE NOT OUT OF THE WOODS YET. 🫠 🚨 We still have several homes on our ste, and a few neighboring homes—with fallen trees and branches hanging on power lines. Some power lines have actually snapped. 💡 ComEd has arrived and is working to remove the trees, but there is NO GUARANTEE THAT POWER WILL BE RESTORED BY TONIGHT, especially with the threat of additional severe weather and flooding. 💦 Flooding is a serious issue here. Our street floods like a river, and our basement takes on water. We are **tired of swimming in our basements.** 😩 🏡 Our homes and our neighborhood cannot continue to absorb this level of flooding. Mold and other water-related damage are now becoming escalating concerns. 🚛 So while crews are working, we are NOT out of the woods yet. ❤️ If you’re able to help, support, share, or connect us with resources, please do. 🚨 SOUTH SUBURBS STORM EMERGENCY - WE NEED A 🤏🏽 HELP. 🌳 We’re in Park Forest and currently without power after yesterday’s severe storms and tornadoes across the south suburbs, Northern Illinois and Northwest Indiana. We have a generator, but fuel is getting expensive, local stores are still without power, and we may be facing an extended outage. We also have 🫁 three asthmatics and a 🥸 CPAP user in our household, and I have to travel farther than usual for ⚕️ SAFE GLUTEN FREE FOOD. 📱 Currently, three of the five cell towers near us are also down, so our Wi-Fi and cell service are both unreliable. If you try to call or message and I don't respond, this is why. If you’re able to help us cover ⛽ gas, 🍜 food, ice, and emergency supplies, please use the PayPal link below. Every little bit helps us stay home, safe, fed, and powered while we ride this out.
