Thank you @artsy for highlighting Saguaro Whispers, a site-specific installation by Norwegian artist Nina K Ekman, currently on view at Yiwei Gallery • Wuhan Contemporary Art Lab @wuhan_c_lab as part of the duo exhibition The Secret Garden.

Blending references from Chinese pavilions and the iconic Saguaro cacti of the American Southwest, Saguaro Whispers offers a poetic meditation on ecological fragility. Created especially for our Wuhan space, the installation invites viewers to step into a soft, contemplative architecture formed by dyed and embroidered textile panels.

Cacti have long been a personal symbol for Ekman—totems of feminine strength, resilience, and love. The 2023 heatwave, intensified by climate change, caused the collapse of many majestic Saguaros. This work mourns their loss while gently reminding us of the increasingly urgent disruptions in our environment.

In traditional Chinese architecture, pavilions are spaces for reflection and connection. Saguaro Whispers reimagines this tradition, offering a sanctuary to pause, feel, and remember our place in nature.

《萨瓜罗秘语》是挪威艺术家妮娜·埃克曼为武汉当代艺术实验室特别创作的场域特定装置作品。作品融合了中国传统亭阁与美国西南部萨瓜罗仙人掌的意象，为自然界中日益严重的生态破坏发声。

对埃克曼而言，仙人掌不仅是图腾般的植物，更象征着女性的力量、韧性与爱。2023年，气候变化引发的毁灭性热浪导致大量壮观的萨瓜罗仙人掌倒塌，这一生态危机促成了本次创作的初衷。

亭阁在中国文化中是欣赏风景、休息雅集的空间，而《萨瓜罗秘语》以染色与刺绣织物作为“光墙”构建出一个可进入的艺术结构，延续这一文化功能的同时，也为当代观众提供一处沉思之所。

Join me for a virtual walk through FADING🌴🐇🌴
On show @kunstpakhuset until the 26th of February

FADING consist of a 16 meter long runner and 52 tufted, knitted and crocheted palm leaf sculptures. The work becomes increasingly more white, faded and transparent and in the end, all that remains, are white threads. The installation is an invitation to reflect on our anthropocentric world view, where plants and animals' raison d'être is to serve us, homo sapiens. We control, modify, duplicate and use them to an extent that they lose their natural being. Like colorless copies, we arrange them in straight rows as we take center stage in the changing and fading biosphere. It's as if we're celebrating our dominance and total control over the biosphere, but in the process we've lost our connection to nature - a connection in which we should celebrate the beauty, the colors, the diversity and the fact that we all have the same origin in the stardust of the universe . ..

Grateful to come back to my birthplace Finnsnes to take part of the opening of Nordnorsken’s 2 stop at Senja Kunstforening and see all the wonderful artworks in the show. Thank you to the team Senja Kunstforening, Luba kuzovnikova from @nordnorskkunstnersenter and the mayor of Senja🙏🏼

My heart skipped a beat or 3 today… 💛💛💛💛

I am beyond words and deeply moved to receive a working grant from @statenskunstfond. To have the Danish Arts Foundation place this kind of trust in my work and process is incredibly humbling.
This recognition is such a powerful push to keep diving deeper into and develop my practice -exploring new boundaries. Feeling so grateful for the space this creates to keep on creating.

Welcome to my studio warming 🥂 it took some time to warm up- but now i finally feel settled in my new workspace:-)

So happy that my thee works « Slaughter I, II and III» are part of the 80th NordNorsken exhibition- A juried-in group exhibition that will be Touring the north of Norway for a year. It opened at @nordnorskkunstnersenter in Lofoten and hopefully I will be able to see it when it comes to Finnsnes - the place where I lived my first 4 years.
If you’re in the North of Norway- check out the program and tour ( Lofoten, Senja, Kirkenes, Alta, Rana and Bodø)
