My heart skipped a beat or 3 today… 💛💛💛💛

I am beyond words and deeply moved to receive a working grant from @statenskunstfond. To have the Danish Arts Foundation place this kind of trust in my work and process is incredibly humbling.
This recognition is such a powerful push to keep diving deeper into and develop my practice -exploring new boundaries. Feeling so grateful for the space this creates to keep on creating.

My thoughts also goes to the many Amazing supertyalents who grind every day and didn’t receive this time- been there many times myself - ❤️‍🩹 keep on making

Copenhagen Calling! My wonderful network, after three inspiring years in California, I'm thrilled to be returning and see you all in real life and to the vibrant art scene of Copenhagen! 🇩🇰 I'm on the lookout for a wonderful artist studio / atelier in central Copenhagen or Greater Copenhagen (within a 20-minute bike ride from Nørreport in any direction). Ideally, I need a space between 30 and 60 m², available around August 1st, 2025.
Whether it's an independent studio or a fantastic space within a supportive shared atelier environment, I'd be incredibly grateful for any leads you might have. A space where I can close the door to embrace the delightful sounds of creation is a must! 😉

@institutfrancaisdk 🌵🌸 Næsten 50 planter og træer har samlet sig i Musiksalonen, blandt gobeliner, forgyldte ornamenter og musikinstrumenter. Kaktusser, paradisblomster, palmer, birke- og Joshuatræer, som alle stammer fra en bred vifte af levesteder rundt om i verden, vokser pludselig her i det Thottske Palæ på Kongens Nytorv. Et gult monster lurer rundt med åben mund og ser grådig og brølende ud. Men alligevel vokser træerne og planterne her i overflod. Og hvad laver de egentlig? Demonstrerer de? Sørger de? Eller måske er de bare ved at synge den berømte sang: “Imagine all the plants… Living life in peace…“.

🎨 Nina K. Ekman er en norsk billedkunstner, født i 1979 og bosat i København. Forbindelsen hun har til naturen er dybt forankret i de vilde landskaber i det nordlige Norge, som dannede baggrund for hendes barndom. Dette forhold til naturen går dog ud over et simpelt personligt kald; det repræsenterer en udforskning af den rolle, som naturen spiller for menneskeheden og omvendt.

🧶 Nina bruger tufting-teknikken til at skabe tekstilskulpturer. Selvom teknikken normalt forbindes med tæppevævning, bliver den for Nina en legende måde at skabe unikke værker med en distinkt karakter. Bæredygtighed og cirkularitet spiller også en central rolle i hendes produktion. Hun bruger nemlig genbrugstøj og rester fra tekstilindustrien til at skabe sine værker.

🌴 Ninas arbejde drejer sig om det presserende og det uundgåelige : det moderne livs dilemmaer og paradokser, samt bevarelsen af vores planet. Med sine magiske, bløde og farverige planter skaber kunstneren trøstende verdener, der tilbyder en flugt fra vores tids udfordringer.

Carte Verte is officially open 💚
What a fantastic week in Copenhagen- smooth installation with the amazing team @institutfrancaisdk, @france.danemark, the talented curator @natkagutman and the amazing helpers, Victor Charlotte and Charlotte @budtzbendix and off course the wonderful artists. I feel so honored to be part of this french/danish curated exhibition and to be invited to exhibit at the Thott Palace. Thank you all for coming to the opening and Kulturnatten- I was so lucky to be able to see so many of you and show you my work.
If you didn't make it and find yourself in Copenhagen before 31 st of October and want to see Carte Verte- remember you have to book your free ticket in advance. If all is booked, write me a message and we'll figure something out;-) - see link in bio to get your free ticket 💚

The exhibition is free to visit and can be entered every Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 16-31 of October between 3pm-7pm. The visit must be pre-booked via billetto see link in 🔗 i bio.
