Pictured above is my beautiful mother on what I’m pretty sure is her 18th birthday & then me on my 18th birthday. 💚🌴🍀🌱🐢🍵 and these are some green emojis bc her favorite color is green lol

Today marks 1 year after the hardest month of my life that started with me turning 18 and ended with me celebrating my mom’s first Mother’s Day at the cemetery. I thought that this time of year would only bring pain and sorrow from now on. But now that a year has passed and I have had some time to grieve and reflect, I am able to turn my focus away from some of the grief to recognize that I can still celebrate today. I should celebrate the hard work that my mom put forth in order to support me and put me through school. I should celebrate who she was and everything she taught me. I should cherish the memories that we shared together, the good times and the tough times. Even though she would always remind me that she wasn’t my friend, she was always and will forever be my best friend. I love you mama. Happy Heavenly Mother’s Day 🤍🕊️ by @ninikyota
