A beautiful conclusion of YATRA and Begining of new learnings.

The idea of last 2.5 years and consistent hard work of past 3 months finally became reality and concluded yesterday.

Nirman Yatra Our initiative that is first of its kind social experiment of connecting promising youth with unsung local heroes and social change makers of Chhattisgarh has just completed the first road trip of 10 days.

The Journey has been immensely resourceful and offered new sights to our vision,it has also broaden our prespective, broken our biases and made us unlearn so much more.

10 Day.10 Change Makers and countless stories to learn from.Nirman Yatra has served its purpose right and created a network of motivated and enthusiastic Young man and woman who are now on thier way to lead a life full of learnings and we are sure the life lessons and values they learnt on this road trip will work as a light house for them to seek guidance.

We are thank ful to everyone who helped us achieve this unimaginable feat and made us realize that Everything is possible if the idea has power and there are people who believe in it.

A Beautiful Conclusion to Nirman Yatra in Central Chhattisgarh

Nirman Yatra, our unique social experiment connecting promising youth with unsung heroes and social change-makers of Central Chhattisgarh, concluded today after an impactful 10-day journey.

This transformative experience broadened our perspectives, broke biases, and taught us the value of unlearning.

10 days. 10 changemakers. Countless stories. Nirman Yatra has successfully created a network of inspired young individuals ready to lead with purpose. The life lessons and values they’ve gained will serve as a guiding light for years to come.

We are immensely grateful to everyone who supported this journey, proving that with belief and a strong vision, anything is possible. As this chapter ends, we eagerly look forward to the learnings and opportunities that await. by @nirmanyatra

The EOI is closed. The journey begins.

Over the past few weeks, people from different places, professions and experiences have written to us with one thing in common - a curiosity to understand Bastar by coming closer.

Thank you for trusting us with your questions and your reasons for wanting to be here.

We now begin the difficult part: bringing together 20 residents with different starting points, different perspectives and a willingness to listen.

And alongside that, we begin putting together the people, places and encounters that will make the Residency what we imagined it to be.

What if you came to Bastar without trying to understand it too quickly?

A conversation that stays with you.
A story you agree with. Another you don’t.
And perhaps, somewhere between them, a better question.

Who gets to tell the story of a place?

Perhaps the better question is: why should there be only one?

For Nirman Residency, we want to come closer to Bastar through people who experience its changes differently - those who live here, build here, question things, preserve things, leave, return, remember, and imagine what comes next.

Not to find the story of Bastar.

To listen to enough of them that a single story no longer feels sufficient.

We opened the Expression of interest for the residency with a question.
The responses are giving us many more.

That feels like a good beginning for Nirman Residency, different people arriving with different curiosities, without needing to arrive at the same conclusions.

There is a difference between travelling through a place and allowing a place to unsettle what we think we know.

Nirman Residency is being shaped around that difference.

We are not entering Bastar to explain it, romanticise it, or search for a convenient conclusion. We are creating time to listen - to people whose experiences may not agree with one another, but are all part of the region’s present.

The residency will ask participants to stay with complexity: to notice what is changing, understand what different people wish to protect, and examine the assumptions they themselves bring into the room.

The aim is not to return with one definitive story about Bastar.

It is to return more attentive, more responsible, and perhaps a little less certain than before.

Perhaps not Bastar.
Perhaps not the questions we arrive with.

But maybe the way we see them.

NIRMAN Residency | South Bastar is five days of stepping outside familiar rooms and familiar narratives, meeting people, travelling through communities and institutions, listening to different voices, questioning what we think we know, and reflecting together.

Not a conference.
Not a tour.
Not five days of being told what to think.

A space to come closer, listen deeper, and leave with better questions.

What kind of person belongs in Nirman Residency?

We do not have one fixed answer.

You may work in development, public policy, education, ecology, livelihoods, media or community action. You may come from an entirely different field, carrying questions that do not fit neatly into any category.

What matters is how you arrive.

With the willingness to listen before forming conclusions. To meet people whose experiences and viewpoints may differ from your own. To question familiar narratives and your own assumptions along with them.

For five days, 20 residents will travel, learn and reflect together in South Bastar.
