Raava laadu. Sweet, crumbly, pure nostalgia πŸ™πŸ’›

✨ There are recipes, and then there are recipes that feel like Amma made them. This one from @itsthirsi is an example of just that. Soft, sweet, and packed with that proper home energy.

πŸ™Œ Head to her page for authentic Tamil cooking that tastes like memory. She's brilliant.

What you'll need:
🧈 2 tbsp ghee
πŸ₯œ A generous handful of cashews & raisins
🌾 2 cups unroasted rava
🍬 ½ cup sugar
πŸ₯› Β½ cup condensed milk
🌟 1 tsp ground cardamom

How to make it:

🧈 Melt the ghee in a pan. Roast the cashews and raisins until they turn golden and smell amazing.
🌾 Add the rava and roast on low heat, stirring constantly, until it smells toasted and nutty.
🍬 Stir in the sugar, cardamom, and condensed milk. Mix everything together well.
πŸ™ While the mixture is still warm, shape into small balls with your hands.
πŸ’› That's it. Pure comfort in every bite.

Banana blossom. The ingredient that deserves more love πŸŒΈπŸ’›

It's been used in kitchens for generations, but somehow it still feels like a secret. Meaty texture, mild flavour, completely versatile.

✨ Curry it, stir-fry it, turn it into vegan 'fish'. It just works.

🌿 One of those ingredients that reminds you how clever traditional cooking really is.

Ceylon. Not Cassia 🌿

What's the difference?

πŸ‡±πŸ‡° Ceylon cinnamon (true cinnamon) comes from Sri Lanka. It's lighter in colour, more delicate in flavour, with sweet, citrusy notes.

🌏 Cassia cinnamon comes from China and Indonesia. It's darker, thicker, with a stronger, spicier bite.

Why Ceylon?

πŸ’› Ceylon has that refined, subtle sweetness that doesn't overpower your cooking. It's what traditional recipes call for, and there's a reason for that.

✨ It's delicate enough for desserts, warm enough for curries, and genuine enough to do both justice.

Why we choose Ceylon.

πŸ‡±πŸ‡° Quality. Authenticity. Flavour.

We only use Ceylon cinnamon because it's the real deal. It's what belongs in proper cooking, and it's what you deserve.

πŸ’š When you see our cinnamon, know it's the good stuff.

Crispy edges, soft centre, absolutely perfect πŸ₯₯✨

πŸ«“ Hoppers are one of those dishes that just hit different. Made with rice flour and coconut milk, they're traditionally served with curry, sambol, or even sweetened coconut milk.

πŸ’› The beauty of hoppers? They're a brilliant canvas for all our sambols, curry powders, and coconut milk.

That deep, dark red πŸ”₯

✨ Suryaa roasted curry powder gets its rich colour from patient, careful roasting. Spices toasted low and slow until they turn that deep amber-brown, releasing all those complex, smoky flavours.

πŸ’› This is what gives proper meat curries that signature depth. The kind of flavour you can't rush.

Meet young jackfruit 🌿✨

What even is it?

🍈 The unripe version of jackfruit. While ripe jackfruit is sweet and tropical, young jackfruit is firm, neutral, and perfect for savoury cooking.

What's in it?

πŸ’ͺ High in fibre, B vitamins (especially B6), potassium, magnesium, and antioxidants. It's low in fat and has more protein than most fruits.

What does it taste like?

πŸ„ Mild and neutral. It takes on whatever flavours you cook it with, making it incredibly versatile.

How do I use it?

πŸ› Perfect for curries, stir-fries, salads, or as a plant-based meat alternative. Drain, rinse, and cook it like you would chicken or pulled pork. It shreds beautifully.

Why bother?

✨ It's hearty, filling, sustainable, and traditional. Young jackfruit has been used in South Asian cooking for generations. It's not a trend, it's heritage.

Ready to give it a go? πŸ’š
