Table and Lighting Design for SSR** — Self Study Room, a project we started c. 1.5 years ago, using existing suspended ceiling components

Overwhelmed by all the people that showed up to our the opening of the second edition of SSR!

NISM Self-Study Room (SSR) is an experimental and temporary public space dedicated to research, knowledge sharing, and reflection.
Part curated library, part extended living room or retreat, NISM SSR* aims to provide access to selected zines curated by: @ccommunee (TYO), @classic.paris (PAR), @shrub.0128 (SG), @far___near near (NYC), @saltandpepper223 (TYO), @blank_mag
(TYO), @925.925.925.925.925 (HK), @n.t._blatt (BLN), @breauxzine (BLN), @bungee.space (NYC), and @steffen.grap (BLN), serving as points of departure for further exploration.

Our goal is to provide a place for critical reflection and inspiration while nurturing a platform for new voices and ideas to emerge.

After our first Self-Study Room (SSR) in 2024, we are now thrilled to announce our second edition from December 3rd, 2025 until December 11th at BEINGHUNTED., Wallstrasse 4, 10179 Berlin.

Join us for our official opening on December 3rd from 18:00 - 21:00. Drinks and music will be provided by us.

Sauna designed by @esracmert for a redevelopment project in Sham Chung, HK.

The low cost sauna is a site specific design, developed specifically with sturdy, easily accessible and transportable materials. The site is located in Sham Chung, a former somewhat remote Hakka village in Hongkong. Due to its limited accessibility, all construction materials are selected to be transportable by boat.

All materials are ready made and easily available on Alibaba. The concept utilizes a form work system, particularly used to realize fast-paced building projects in cities such as Hong Kong. Now functioning as an architectural element itself, aluminium form work becomes the form, creating an unusual meditative space out of construction materials.

The project was lead by NISM, with all designs by architect @esracmert, visuals by @krasniy_luch by @nism.info
