SSR** - Self Study Room, a project developed using existing suspended ceiling components.

NISM Self-Study Room (SSR) is an experimental and temporary public space dedicated to research, knowledge sharing, and reflection.
Part curated library, part extended living room or retreat, NISM SSR* aims to provide access to selected zines curated by:
@communee (TYO), @classic.paris (PAR), @shrub.0128 (SG), @far__near near (NYC), @saltandpepper223 (TYO), @blank_mag (TYO), @925.925.925.925.925 (HK), @n.t._blatt (BLN), @breauxzine (BLN), @bungee.space (NYC), and @steffen.grap (BLN), serving as points of departure for further exploration.

Our goal is to provide a place for critical reflection and inspiration while nurturing a platform for new voices and ideas to emerge.

The Evolution of Electronic Music

Past innovations shaping today’s creative systems: This Beinghunted. Campus (@beinghunted.campus) Study Day offers a focused look at how electronic music, early digital tools, and self-driven creative work in the 1990s set the groundwork for what many of us use and do today.

What emerged during the 1990s, technological change, new club and media structures, a DIY mentality, didn’t just transform music. It marked the beginning of a new freedom for creative production: music, but also video, graphic design, fashion (clubwear), and publishing.

Despite today’s faster pace and broader toolset, many of the working methods from that era remain relevant.

Shanghai’s creative studio @samepaper will hold a Tokyo Pop-up Exhibition “amateur Library” at @ccommunee with contributions from photographic books and art books lovers.

When Flo asked me to participate in the second instalment of his Self Study Room, it reminded me there is not much to report in and around N.T. Blatt. Instead of chewing on the back catalog, I am using the chance to contribute a few examples of books/zines important to me. The selection of ten printed matters have influenced and informed my interests and represent some sort of origin/through line for N.T.’s practice of independent publishing and visual stimuli. Be sure to check out the SSR** during their opening hours.
