In March 1897, Wolf composed his Michelangelo-Lieder, a cycle of three songs based on German translations of Michelangelo’s poetry.
At this time, Wolf was staring into his own void, because he was suffering from advanced tertiary syphilis and was just months away from the complete mental collapse that would place him in a psychiatric asylum for the rest of his life.

Denken, Reden, Schmerz und Wonne;

Und die wir zu Enkeln hatten,

Nach einer intensiven Woche im schönem Tirol, konnte ich tolle Erfahrungen mit Christoph Prégardien sammeln!
Seine Expertise im Liedgesang und Christoph Schnackertz am Klavier waren eine sehr große Inspiration für mich🤍🤙
