Inaugural NLB Winter @hittraxofficial league is in the books! Sr club will feature @67.elite.bsbl versus the Skipping Hornets. Jr league pits the Bat Flip Bandits versus the Skippers. A lot of current and future studs for both @edinabaseball and @mbatonkabaseball as well as @wayzatabaseball

Leaders in slugging and average for each league included!

Stay tuned for the league MVPs announcement tomorrow!

Updated standings with one week left of the @hittraxofficial league. @67.elite.bsbl has a commanding lead on the 1-seed in the SR division.. However the coaches just put up a 40-spot to set the league high for the year. In the JR division the Bat Flip Bandits have clinched a spot in the finals and the Skippers and Dingers play this weekend to see who makes the ship.

League Leaders in XBHs and RBIs are posted as well.

Some strong candidates for the inaugural NLB HitTrax MVP award…. Comment who you think should win.

Winter catching camp @nlbplayers run by @612catching doing some short throws into extended throws.

Why we do short throws - it allows the athletes to have a long throw where they can get the ball to the target in the air. Players can focus on their footwork and transfer without worrying about getting the ball to the target. Think of it as the “front toss” of catching.

Why we do extended throws - it exposes a players flaws in technique even more than the normal distance would. If catchers rely too much on arm strength and not enough on good technique they’ll often step out with their front left foot and airmail the ball up and to the right. If they don’t get on top in their throw the ball will tail making a more difficult catch/tag for their teammate.
