“You can’t architect a compelling experience backward from financial outcomes.” Neal Stephenson cuts through the startup playbook nonsense

The right order: creative idea with genuine value → people get recognized and paid → financial outcomes might follow. Wrong order: financial mechanism → try to attract creators → nothing compelling happens.

Rebecca witnessed this during Web3's early years at Venice Film Festival. Immersive artists and game developers didn’t care about blockchain. They cared about creative freedom. Tech kept leading the pitch. Creators kept walking away.

The lesson: compensation models don’t create compelling experiences. Creative ideas create compelling experiences. Compensation just ensures creators can keep making them. Start with art. The platform follows.
