Leaning into two sides of a multiple personality, Jane Paik fronts the 4-piece art-damaged, no wave folk band Muscle Beach and pulls you into hypnotic states washed through the sonic tapestries of vocals, guitars, noise and loops with Elder Sister. In the 90s and 00s she helped pioneer the experimental dance troupe Janet Pants Dans Theeatre which booked and toured like a band alongside fellow independent musicians of the era.

Hot off the Presses!

Muscle Beach all on and in the new @razorcake_zine #covergirls

“After seeing them play their second show at a bizarre house in San Pedro I knew there was something really special in the mix. Luckily a lot of other people agree! A live experience that does not disappoint as well four unique humans behind the noise. Fffuuuuuuuck yeah! How many other bands have never had a band practice?”

Erica Dawn Lyle
Elder Sister
Carlton + Carey (Bozulich + Elaine)

Weekends are for amateurs - Mondays are the night the real ones emerge. Erica and I have been trying to play together since forever and the stars finally aligned. Elaine maintains the charm and talent to coax Carla out in a rare appearance for a duet you don’t want to miss. Reverie Books is a portal to a time and a tone rarer and rarer in these times of neighborhood takeovers, Tim its patron saint. We will be conjuring autumn, like a rain dance, because LA still thinks it’s summer.

on Tuesday 1/27, it’s back!

Human Resources 7-10 ⏭️⏭️

WINTER SALON is a blast-up event, collecting multivalent, multimodal local artists into one eclectic night. An unusual, adventurous cocktail. A cross-pollination of interests & friend-groups. Featuring performances or text, noise, sound installations, tarot, food & object offerings.

ELDER SISTER
is the materialisation of incantations voiced from the marrow of broken bones, human DNA, ancestral imprints, whispers of hope from other dimensions and future triumphs, channeled through unpredictable songs of delayed guitars, vocal loops, and collected transmissions of everyday sounds. Elder Sister is Jane Paik

SHELLY BADAL
works within a sensory practice to cultivate sites for relatedness and presence via performance, sound, light, video, language, and community organizing. Her audiovisual works blend color abstraction with vérité footage and field recordings using analog & digital processes, often incorporating reflective materials and projection.

LIV MERSHON
’s work explores beauty in the grotesque, and the divine found in catharsis. Her performances are ecstatic and embodied, with immersive heavy soundscapes that move like dream narratives. Her practice invites audiences to encounter intensity, release, and shared experience through sound, presence, and collective imagination.

EMJI SAINT SPERO
multihyphenate artist and pervert Emji Saint Spero betrays their nightmarishly micro-edited compositional practice and the sonic clusterfuckery of their transmission art with UpMoon Station, in this screech-worthy, free improvised sax debut: a new sample-based work, transposing trans* vocal variants into a mic-drop moment for Adolphe Sax.

EMILY ELKIN
is a los angeles based cellist from buffalo, NY and would like to say from the bottom of her heart: fuck ice

ANGI BRZYCKI,
tarot reading by

COREY FOGEL
is: a composer, drummer, and artist; occasionally teacher; researcher; curator. He approaches sound, textile, collaborators, gestures, and objects as viable materials for spontaneous, time-based experimental performance, often fusing sculpture, video, musical traditions, theatricality, and ritual. by @no_lines_are_linear
