Leaning into two sides of a multiple personality, Jane Paik fronts the 4-piece art-damaged, no wave folk band Muscle Beach and pulls you into hypnotic states washed through the sonic tapestries of vocals, guitars, noise and loops with Elder Sister. In the 90s and 00s she helped pioneer the experimental dance troupe Janet Pants Dans Theeatre which booked and toured like a band alongside fellow independent musicians of the era.

Erica Dawn Lyle
Elder Sister
Carlton + Carey (Bozulich + Elaine)

Weekends are for amateurs - Mondays are the night the real ones emerge. Erica and I have been trying to play together since forever and the stars finally aligned. Elaine maintains the charm and talent to coax Carla out in a rare appearance for a duet you don’t want to miss. Reverie Books is a portal to a time and a tone rarer and rarer in these times of neighborhood takeovers, Tim its patron saint. We will be conjuring autumn, like a rain dance, because LA still thinks it’s summer.

Very excited to welcome ELDER SISTER (Jane Paik from LA’s @musclebeach_la and, if you’re an OG head, JANET PANTS DANZ THEATR!)

We also have some special guests from Atlanta, Eastern Continental - sax & cello madness- Ben Shirley and Jeff Crompton! @shinburley @jeffcromptonmusic

Round it all out with Arrington de Dionyso, Noel Kennon and Ofir Klemperer for a deep session of WTF WAS THAT.

John Killduff (letspainttv)/Adam Lion Duo

The first meeting between John Kilduff (letspainttv) and Adam Lion (vibraphone). John, is an outsider legend who began on public access television 25 years ago. He embraces the absurd through performance of music, food, ping-pong, painting, and treadmills. Adam is a classically trained improviser of experimental music who has developed an idiosyncratic practice deeply focused on vibraphone. In this performance these backgrounds blend (or clash!) through spontaneous music.

Elder Sister

Elder Sister is the materialisation of incantations voiced from the marrow of broken bones, human DNA, ancestral imprints, whispers from other dimensions, and future triumphs, channeled through unpredictable songs of delayed guitars, vocal loops, and collected transmissions of everyday sounds.

Elder Sister is Jane Paik who persists as an artist, musician and healer for creatives, mystics and misfits. A wanderer by nature and forever situated in duality.

A dig into the past will unearth the Janet Pants Dans Theeatre, a pioneering experimental dance troupe that booked and toured like a band in the independent music scenes of the 90s/2000s. An easy stroll across the way will reveal the flip side of Elder Sister as the vocalist in the art-damaged, no wave, folk band Muscle Beach.

DeathFlavorKiss

DeathFlavorKiss is Melissa Achten and Eli Klausner, two composers, improvisers, and multi-instrumentalists. Their decade-long collaboration combines esoteric objects and hand-built instruments with their experimental harp and piano practice. They’ve performed and premiered compositions in New York, Montréal, London, and Cyprus. DeathFlavorKiss develops work out of their home studio Oracle Egg, which is also an experimental arts incubator that they run together. by @_eldersister_
