We bear exciting news.

We’re currently in the studio producing our debut album, Il-Ħurrieq.

It’s still a while before you can enjoy it with us, and we’re going to be a total tease in the meantime.

To kick things off, here are some behind the scenes views, shot through the magical eyes of @lisa_attard .

This project is supported by @artscouncilmalta .

Ninsabu fl-istudio nipproduċu l-ewwel album tagħna li se jġib l-isem ta’ 𝙄𝙡-Ħ𝙪𝙧𝙧𝙞𝙚𝙦.

Biex nibdew l-inkejja, qed naqsmu magħkom xi ritratti minn wara l-kwinti, meħudin mill-lenti maġika ta’ @lisa_attard .

It’s here! A recap of last year’s Beyond What Drifts Us Apart at Għajn Tuffieħa, Majjistral Park 🌞

Four weeks of moving with the site.
Walking, listening, cooking, recording, unmaking.

Last year’s BWDUA unfolded without a fixed exhibition. Instead, it took shape through open studios, workshops, walks and gatherings across Majjistral, responding to the tower and its surroundings, to erosion, instability and what remains unseen.

Artists worked with collapse, ambiguity and unmaking: imagining the tower’s fall, tracing micro socio-political conditions and exploring food as access, care and resistance. The studio became a living lab. The programme grew slowly, in dialogue with the landscape and with everyone who joined us along the way.

What remains are traces: sounds, maps, recipes, conversations, gestures, fragments that continue to drift beyond the residency.

Huge gratitude to the artists, the team, collaborators, neighbours, walkers, listeners and everyone who stepped into the process with curiosity and care. This edition came together so beautifully because of the energy, generosity and openness you all brought into it.

Stay tuned for our next tower adventure in 2026 💚

Nicole Borg (Indigikcina) and Noah Fabri’s Reciprocal Abundance frames food as both artistic practice and political inquiry, working with cooking, preservation and sharing as tools for research and reflection.

Their contribution to BWDUA centred on the idea of culinary ambiguity; the way food embodies shifting identities, ecological entanglements and socio-political struggles. Food becomes more than sustenance: it is access, memory, commodity and resistance.

👋 Meet Nicole & Noah, enjoy their refreshments and discover more about their work this evening. Join us for the final event on 9th October, from 6:00pm.

🌻 Nicole Borg & Noah Fabri will lead a guided walk with a focus on the in-between spaces of Majjistral park as a heritage site, drawing attention to the intersection between agriculture and land ownership. Tracing how the non-human species in the area experience their surroundings as a conventional boundary.

👐 The event will form the basis of the critical reflection on access and commodity, reinstating our edible identity. Local wild plants and herbs will be foraged for fermentation and preservation in preparation for Beyond What Drifts Us Apart’s closing event on 9th October.

🍃 Beyond What Drifts Us Apart - Meet the Artists 🍃

Noah Fabri studied anthropology and writes fiction, theatre and music. They participate in DIY art communities which served as the basis for the collaborative practices used in their work. Noah's part of the collective Karmaġenn that released two albums between 2019 and 2023. They staged the performances Inbigħu l‐Imqaret (2021, part of SPRING, Gabriel Caruana Foundation), Huma Min Huma? (2021, part of Refraction, Spazju Kreattiv), and Insalata (2023, part of The Wind Blows Waves in All Directions, Spazju Kreattiv). Noah also worked with Martina Farrugia on the publications Dar Imħawra (2021) and Nanniet Laġenba (2024). Their writing has been featured on Aphroconfuso and two anthologies by Praspar Press (2021 and 2023). Their first novel, It‐Togħma Morra taċ-Ċiċri, was published in 2024.

During the 2025 edition of BWDUA Nicole Borg will be working in collaboration with Noah with a focus on food-related and agricultural practices in the area, from foraging to intangible traditions, and linking these to broader anthropological and ecological systems.

L-ewwel rumanz tiegħi It-Togħma Morra Taċ-Ċiċri ħareġ illum 🤍

Storja dwar il-mużika, l-ħbiberija, l-Ħamrun u l-Marsa, u r-ritmi tal-ħajja ta' kuljum

Grazzi kbira lil @chrismerlinu u t-tim tal- @merlinkotba tal-fiduċja f’din l-istorja. Grazzi @leanneellul tal-proċess bellezza tal-editjar - u hemm ħafna iktar ringrazzjamenti fil-ktieb stess. Naħseb l-iktar ħaġa li tgħallimt minn dan il-proġett huwa kemm il-kitba hija mezz tal-arti kollaborattiv mmens, mill-qsim tal-ideat bejn il-ħbieb li jispirawni biex nikteb, sad-diskussjonijiet dwar id-direzzjoni tal-kitba u l-inqas tentufiet fil-kostruzzjoni tas-sentenzi (kemm inħobb) 🧡

Nispera li jtikom naqa buzz bħal tarja tajba 🍲

Nanniet Laġenba

Esej dwar il-konnessjoni bejn in-nies kwir u n-nanniet Maltin, bil-kitba ta’ @noah.fabri u l-illustrazzjonijiet u d-disinn ta’ @martinafarrugia 💛 💛 💛

Kollaborazzjoni oħra ċkejkna bejnietna, din id-darba ibbażata fuq l-osservazzjoni li ħafna kwirs Maltin qed nirreferu għan-nanniet fl-istil ta’ kif ngħixu ħajjitna. X’jgħqqad dawn iż-żewġ komunitajiet? Fittixna u ħsibna permezz tal-kibta, t-tpinġija u d-disinn, biex niftħu konversazzjoni magħkom ilkoll ☕ 🍪🍪
