backside of my hand knotted rug

this piece is very close to my heart and marks the beginning of a lifetime of research, interviews, and making

Rendering cultural loss, distance from my familial history, and glitches which disrupt orientalist desires that fuel American capitalistic consumption of Persian rugs.

knotting mutated versions of motifs found within rugs inherited from my great grandparents, whose assimilation into American rug history parallels the Americana the Iraqi Jewish side of my family gradually subscribed to after immigrating to NY

I spent my birthday last week in the studio completing bar reliefs for an intensive sculpture class and left feeling ~healed~ it’s been years since I’ve produced any art outside of work

I’ve been hibernating for a few years, so here are some pics from my last few solo birthdays doing activities I love: making art, hiking, and looking cute at the beach by @noahc100

hi all,
haven’t posted in a while, but I’ve been working really hard to get these columns woven along with starting and finishing some other projects.

i want to sell some work so I can buy myself a floor loom for my bedroom and other supplies. also may try to knot some smaller rug studies to sell at more affordable pricing. by @noahc100
