Old Project Dump (pt1):

These Augmented Masks were part of a project developed in my last year at @st_luc_bxl in 2023/2024. At the time I was researching the notion of privacy in both physicals and digitals « public » spaces.
Using AR and physical objects to disturb Facial Recognition Algorithm.

This project was published in the second Issue (002) of « GlitchMagazine » in April 2025.

Meet Noah Destrée 👋
@noanal_e

During his residency at iMAL, Noah has been exploring play, technology, pleasure and the strange space in between. His project, (sex)toyBending, brings together second-hand toys, digital fabrication and a playful take on the relationship between bodies and machines.

We sat down with Noah to hear more about his project, his experiments in the FabLab, and what he’s been working on during his residency.

Aren't you curious to see more and more ;)

Thanks so much Louise @babbzerr for this video interview.
C'est trop mimi! ;) by @noanal_e

We are so excited to welcome our newest resident, Noah Destrée! @noanal_e Noah is one of two chosen artists to be a part of the Fablab Experiments residency program which offers the opportunity to explore the iMAL fablab.

Noah’s project is titled “(sex)toyBending” which involves “the creation of sex machines using second-hand toy carcasses as raw material.” He plans to play with the idea of children’s toys and putting them into conversation with the playfulness of sex toys. In his work, he addresses themes such as transhumanism, cyberfeminism, queer existence, and archiving. Blending different techniques, both digital and analog, his work combines serious subjects with absurdity. Through video games, drawings, animation, and more recently 3D printing, Noah creates fantastical worlds that question social structures, homogenization, lack of representation, and the seriousness of the contemporary art world.

📢 📢 📢 📢 📢 Congratulations to our iPO fablab experiments resident 2026: Noah Destrée @noanal_e <3

The jury (composed of the iMAL team, Anne-Françoise Lesuisse, and Dia Helmy) has unanimously chosen (sex)toyBending by Noah Destrée, a project involving “the creation of sex machines using second-hand toy carcasses as raw material.”

The jury particularly appreciated “the inventiveness, freshness, and freedom of the project, which promise experiments rich in uninhibited creativity” and considers that the artist “successfully combines seriousness and derision, depth and playfulness,” and is therefore well suited for a residency at the iMAL fablab.

Noah Destrée is a 22-year-old queer Belgian artist completing a master's degree in Applied Arts in Vienna (die Angewandte).

With a degree in Digital Arts from ESA Saint-Luc and an Erasmus exchange at HAW (Hamburg), he began a master's degree in Fashion & Technology in Linz (Kunstuniversität) before joining Margarete Jahrmann's class at the University of Applied Arts in Vienna. His work has been exhibited in various venues, including Young European Artists (Brussels), Botanica Urbana (Hamburg), PostCityLinz, and published in GlitchOfficial.

We would also like to warmly thank the jury for their insightful reviews of the proposals and the rich discussions that followed.

More iPO residents announcements will follow very shortly.

I’m not justifying the use of violence against anyone. But how interesting is it to witness the end of someone that thought that m4ss m*rd4r was a low price to pay for protecting the 2th Amendment. And even more to realize that the sh00t3r was himself associated to f4r right idea.
