No reservations. The hunt for the perfect dispersed campsite is a hell of an adrenaline rush…especially if sunset is near. Finding a campsite in Yosemite is impossible to do on a whim, and on a whim is how a lot of my trips get planned - so I take what I can get. This spot was one for the books and it was very well hidden, I actually found it after setting up my tent and taking a hike in the creek to get my bearings.

Once I saw that secluded firepit nestled into the creek, I broke down my previous site and hustled to find an entrance to this new one and stake my claim. After getting fire and pitching my tent, I made this Rothko-esque image by dragging the camera on a tripod while the red light of my headlamp exposed the foreground.

I was gonna leave it at that but I think it’s important to note that public lands like these are actively being stripped away by you know who 🙄 There is over 3,000,000 acres of public land aka YOUR land, that is to be sold and stripped for oil, timber, mining, etc.
The current target is Grand Staircase-Escalante which I consider to be one of the most special places I have ever visited. The executive order has been signed. No congress, no vote…no surprise there.

These lands cannot defend themselves. Hopefully this is just another way to distract from the fact that he’s mentioned in the Ep$tein files over thirty thousand times and the EO will be overturned, but it’s up to congress now. I walked around Manhattan for a few hours dusting off my street photography persona. Spent time in Washington Square Park with the chess masters, skateboarders, and jazz musicians. Googled all the fun facts about New York’s steam system. Ran into lots of cool dogs and also took a selfie with my good friend @shoheiohtani. Then to the Bowery ballroom to listen to Zinadelphia. I ended the night sharing a rooftop drink with the lovely @jazminliketheprincess. Day one in NYC was cool. taken in Lower East Side Manhattan by @noctographer

A Comet Appears

I’ve been shooting long exposures at night for over ten years now. One interesting thing I’ve noticed is there are shooting stars happening all the time, not just during a meteor shower. They also seem to cluster in a certain part of the sky. Usually I’ll photoshop them out along with any other planes or satellites, but this one was particularly heroic. 💫 by @noctographer
