These family conversations also made Dad’s appointments with a palliative care nurse practitioner that much easier.

Ask 20 people “what is quality of life?” and you’ll have 20 different answers!

….whether it was to be willed to them upon a loved one’s death or not 🤷🏻‍♀️

The long goodbye is a head-trip. Dementia is a nightmare. People are resilient. Love is everlasting. Grieving someone still alive is a different grief than grieving someone who has died.

On days *you know* it will be hard(est)….is it possible to schedule yourself a treat?

This helped me A LOT when it was BOTH parents very sick & still helps now (like today) for 1 sick parent. by @noel__writes

I’m doing my best to work through the “people living with dementia only get worse, they don’t get better” after a lifetime of “let’s do surgery, chemo, drugs, organ transplant”

I am still working through how to feel about this one.

The adult child journey with aging parents is really wild.

If you are not…may dementia never touch the lives of anyone you love; in my unique experience, I found aggressive, devastating cancer easier to deal with than this.
