Mango Figueroa 🥭🦊

Hi friends & family,

It breaks my heart to say that my dear boy, Mango, has peacefully went to sleep on 10/24/24, 1758.. After work,10/21/24, he was dx with Stage 4 Kidney Failure/ End of Life Care. Thank you to all my friends & family who reached out to me and helped me during what I’d call, the worst few days of my life. In the end, he was surrounded by such good people & so much love, thank you ❤️

To Mango,
The words despair, grief, and sorrow cannot describe the pain I felt when I was told your diagnosis, however, the amount of love we have for you is far greater. You aren’t just a pet, a man’s best friend, brother, or guardian, you were all of them & more. You came into my life when I was only 6 years old, where I knew little about the world & only wanting the coolest toys. Except you, I wanted nothing more than a Pomeranian named Mango. You’ve seen me grow from a small child to a young adult, and was there to see Jalissa, Josue, and Gianna be born & watch over them. Although now.. you’re leaving my life exactly 16 years & 10 months later.. a day I knew would come, just not so soon or unexpectedly. In the end, you fought so long & hard to make sure I was never alone and that I’d make it to & back from Colorado safely. And stayed just a bit longer to have reassurance you can leave when I’ve reached the point in life I can call the happiest I’ve been, even when that was just so recently. I hope you were able to have the best life, and that I did the best I could to give you that, I just wish I could do more now.. Words cannot express how grateful I am to you & just how much I love you.. I just wish I had more time. I hope that you are reunited with the rest of our beloved, you’ve outlived them all, I just wish you can take me too.. I hope there is the softest green field you can roam, bask in the sun with the best breeze that pets you gently like I once did, and eat all the table food you want. My dearest Mango, Mangonada, Mango-Bear, Mangito, Mangoster, The Menace, rat, 9-Tailed Fox, Inaanak, xoài and all the other nicknames our friends/family gave you, I promise I’ll take u back home 🏔️rest in paradise 🕊️🙏 Mahal Kita/ Te Amo ❤️ by @noelkaleo

Late at posting as always 🙌

To FSA/SIFA,

Thank you @baylorfsa for an amazing undergraduate experience I’d never have expected. Allowing me to explore unknown territories I would have never imagined & giving me a space to explore my culture that I was not familiar with. Providing a home for authenticity, life long memories/friendships, and lessons from friends and family.

Thank you to my Ate Joanne for believing in me & told me to take upon leadership as treasurer 2021. Never would I have imagined the skills and path this would lead me, and thank you to my Ate Lauren for furthering those leadership skills.

The past year, well more of a semester & 1/3, it was my greatest honor serving the FSA & SIFA community as External VP & Board Advisor. Despite all the trials and tribulations, to give back to the community who provided the world to me the past 4 years is the greatest reward: to foster bahay, community & legacy. I do not regret any choices in servicing this community. My only regret is making the choice to not finish my senior year with everyone & the consequences after.

Thank u Kuya, Ates & friends for guiding me throughout the years. Yes, I know I can be so stubborn & prideful to listen to advice at times, but thanks for being the best mentors. You guys have seen me at my lowest and if it weren’t for yall I wouldn’t be where I am at today. I am beyond grateful to each of you & have truly been blessings in my life.

Lastly, to my Adings, G adings, and GG Adings, yall make me feel old asf 😂 but thank you to yall who made my FSA experience the most memorable. To this day being a Kuya for Arceo has been the best part of my entire college career, and thank you guys for sticking with me till the end & allowing me to be yalls Kuya. I am so proud of every single one of you! It’s always family over everything!

Lastly, to 23’-24’ BUFSA Exec board. Just damn.. that’s all I can say 😂 I wouldn’t wanted to go through it with anyone else. Thank you for being my rock, my ride or die, as we went through it. I apologize for the problems/ struggles we had that came with myself🕺🏼, but hope yall made the impact we envisioned :3

Pakinggan ang Puso ❤️ SIFA Leadership Retreat 23’

In coming of the new year (and late post), reflection of one of the more difficult struggles I had this year/peak of my leadership career.

To begin, the difference in perspective between last year and now, from being a Lodi in Tropa to coordinator is familiar but distant role. From a month of planning to the 6 consecutive all nighter prep, I didn’t really know where to begin and I definitely did not want to have an original interpretation of a Leadership Retreat.

Instead, my vision for Pakinggan ang Puso , is to uphold the legacy that Joanne Gotanco (22-23 Board Advisor) and the past SIFA board established, and continue the foundations of this retreat in which they curated for us. To continue the experience of giving leaders a safe space to learn and to be heard- providing reassurance, affirmation, and perseverance as we all continue this office year. Passing the mantle for generations here on out.

Thank you to everyone who attended and supported me throughout this process because it is for those that gives me motivation and encouragement to make this retreat and to be the best officer I can be within my own limitations. To SIFA, my BUFSA pamilya, adings, and friends. Last year, being a Lodi for the same retreat was such a pivotal moment in my leadership and FSA career. Seeing tears and smiles of shared goals, struggles, and pride we take in ourselves as leaders and fellow people. Making us whole. Showing that no matter how far the distance that separates us and gives us false perspectives of each others and their character.. we all share the same struggles. We are all the same. And from these, the formations of a community being built right in front of you is truly, one of the most beautiful things a person can witness.

To my officers, my friends, and my adings/G-adings, I am so proud of every single one of you! To see your growth and passion throughout the year is truly the best reward. I’m so excited to see you guys continue to grow your why in your leadership career. As I finish my last year, it has truly been an honor to serve as ur Board Advisor/ EVP. Mahal Kita ❤️

Padayon - SIFA Leadership Retreat 2022

A recap from last weekend: it definitely took me by surprise and I loved every part of it. Def one of my core memories of FSA/ SIFA 🫶

Huge shoutout to @sifa.exec & @untfsa for hosting this amazing leadership retreat and a huge thank you to all those who came and attended. It’s amazing what vulnerability and reflection on ourselves can do, I know we def touched many hearts and inspired the new. This leadership retreat cultivated many important values and characteristics of what leadership entails, and I cannot express in words just how beautiful it was to be able and witness a community form right before your very eyes in a matter of a few hours, and I am extremely grateful to witness such a thing. To our surprise, it is the distance that makes us see these facades of indifferences, but in reality we are all but the same, sharing common interests, hopes, and goals: striving to build Bahay.

To those who were not even officers, barely even halfway through their first semester of Freshman Year, who came, y’all brought so much joy & instilled so much hope for the future of FSA/SIFA! I say this with an open heart, “I cannot wait to see you guys exceed in the upcoming futures as leaders!”

Thank you for the amazing opportunity to be a Lodi (idol/group leader) to such an amazing Tropa! I am extremely grateful for each and everyone of you who shared their values, thoughts, and feelings of their FSA’s as leaders, some even VP’s & Presidents. Y’all are part of my family now and I hope you guys were able to cultivate something from this retreat & hopefully be able to apply in your own unique way to your life :) You guys & this retreat reminded me why I am part of this FSA community, and what it truly means to be a leader in terms of being a SIFA officer. We def should’ve won that kahoot but even the game itself knew we were slaying too hard!! Mabu-Slayyy 4 Life 💅🔥🔥

Officer or not an officer, I would’ve recommended this retreat to anyone and everyone because it was truly a 20/10 experience fs ❤️‍🔥 by @noelkaleo

Supposed to be a week before fam reveal but I’m Filipino 💀

Just wanted say: Thank you to all my adings who gave me the wonderful opportunity to be their kuya for Arceo this past year. To be nominated best kuya as well is a surprise, whether if it it is entirely true or not, it’s nice to see the efforts you put in be rewarded, so thank you. To my adings, y’all have impacted my life indefinitely & i am so grateful for each of you. I hope I was able to do the same for you❤️and thank you to those in the other fams as well for making this one of the most unique and gratifying experiences I’ll ever have in my lifetime. I am truly blessed and humbled by each and everyone of you guys. My goal was to be able to recreate the BUFSA/Arceo experience I had knowing to find a welcoming community, trust and loyalty, and family without fail. For those who I failed to make an impact on, I apologize and hope you were still able to learn what your values are and what you need from even some of our smallest interactions/ experiences :) I know that I have learned precious life lessons and is something I will forever be grateful for. I hope that you can forgive me and one day you’ll be able give Arceo/FSA another chance 🫶

Shoutout to my Ate Joanne, Ate Danielle, Kuya Woo, and my G Ate Tamara for helping me grow and realizing what and where my values lie as role models. Forever will have love for each of my adings and I Am so So SO PROUD of y’all (& now g-adings)! To FOUR Generations now❤️‍🔥

~Gonna miss these 2 seniors. They’ve been such a help and inspiration this year, and their advice and encouragement helped me push through. Thank you for being the best Kuya & G Ate I can ask for. I know each of you will do amazing things and make such an accomplished life to be proud of! Gonna miss you G Ate. Gonna miss ya Kuya ❤️ ~
