@justjerdi and I started talking about trying to bring national @newleaderscouncil convention to Kentucky a few years ago. To see it come to fruition on our 20th anniversary made it all the more special. I can’t put into words how it feels to be a part of this organization. To be able to stand next to these Kentuckians and the thousands of NLC alums across the country who are working to make our communities a more equitable place for all is truly an honor.

I also want to thank @karenpandycherry, @ambarv54, Kyrsten, and the national NLC Board for working so hard to create a space for our community to thrive and grow. Y’all are seriously the best! taken in Louisville, Kentucky by @noelosborn

Today is my last day as @nlc_kentucky Co-Director (swipe to see me in July of ’23 and me today). There is so much I want to say to about the affect @newleaderscouncil has had on my life and the impact our fellows have on our Commonwealth. So much in fact, that I couldn’t possibly write it all out in this post.

That being said, I want to thank all of the board members, fellows, and alumni, who have supported our chapter and made the past two years a wonderful and educating experience for me. I also want to thank my friends and family who have been back burnered but have still supported me — I’m looking forward to spending time with you all again! Thank you to Dexter Horne and Carmellia Jackson-Hurley for building a strong chapter and trusting us to carry it on. I know the incoming Co-Directors will continue this legacy!

This post and our chapter wouldn’t exist without Christian Motley — thank you for seeing that I was “one of us” and for pushing me to apply once upon a time ago. And finally, I want to thank Nicole Aghaaliandastjerdi for embodying all that NLC stands for. I’ve learned so much from you and couldn’t imagine leading with anyone else. As I’ve said many times before, I would ride into battle behind you!

Finally, I want to leave my term asking two questions: How have you committed to making your community a better place for all? How are you showing up in that commitment? by @noelosborn
