Two Italian American women. Two remarkable leadership journeys. One conversation about the values that helped shape them.

U.S. Rep. Rosa DeLauro has built a decades-long career in public service, while Patricia Russo, Executive Director of The Campaign School at Yale, has spent years helping women step into leadership and public life.

Join NOIAW in New Haven as these Wise Women reflect on how Italian American heritage, family, community, and tradition have influenced the women and leaders they became.

The National Organization of Italian American Women mourns with @calandra.institute the sudden loss of Dr. Joseph Sciorra, Director of Academic and Cultural Programs and one of the most brilliant folklorists and cultural historian of the Italian American diaspora. He will be dearly missed. by @noiaw

Tomorrow night in New York. 🇮🇹📚✨

I’m so excited to join author Laura Morelli at the New York Public Library for a conversation on “Translating Memory, War, and Italian Identity.”

We’ll be talking about the stories behind our novels, the women shaped by fascism and World War II, the role of memory and heritage, and what it means to carry Italian identity across generations.

For me, this conversation is especially personal. Under the Light of the Italian Moon was inspired by my great-great-grandmother, a midwife in northern Italy, and by the women in my family whose stories might otherwise have been lost.

If you’re in New York, I’d love to see you there. ❤️https://www.nypl.org/events/programs/2026/10/09/translating-memory-war-and-italian-identity-jennifer-anton-and-laura

This October, the Italian American Leadership Forum proudly celebrates Italian American Heritage Month 🇮🇹🇺🇸

It is a time to honor the generations of Italian Americans whose vision, perseverance, service, and ingenuity have helped shape the American story.

Figures like Antonio Meucci, Mother Cabrini, Enrico Fermi, Fiorello La Guardia, A.P. Giannini, Geraldine Ferraro, and countless others reflect the lasting impact Italian Americans have made on the history, culture, and progress of the United States.

Throughout the month, we celebrate the people who came before us, the culture and traditions we continue to carry forward, and the contributions Italian Americans continue to make today.

Proud of our heritage. Proud of our history. Proud to be Italian American.

Getting out of your comfort zone looks different when you’ve already built a career, a reputation, and a life you’re proud of.

Sometimes growth means raising your hand for the leadership opportunity, expanding your professional network, learning something new, or making space for a next chapter you did not expect.

This weekend, ask yourself: Where could a little discomfort lead to something even better?

Save this for when you need the reminder, or share it with a woman who’s ready for what’s next. by @noiaw
