Super Sunday at the Bayou is unmatched—the suits, the chants, and the pure New Orleans magic! Nothing beats a Sunday at The Bayou when the Big Chiefs come through. The beadwork is next level and the energy is 100% New Orleans ⚜️.

From the intricate hand-sewn feathers to the deep-rooted tradition that has shaped this city for generations, there is truly nothing like the spirit of the Mardi Gras Indians. It’s a kaleidoscope of color, community, and culture that you have to see to believe. ✨🔥

It was a true honor to film the sacred land and waterways of the Grand Bayou Indian Village in Plaquemines Parish. Alongside NolaWater, I witnessed the incredible resilience of the Atakapa-Ishak/Chawasha tribe, whose home is one of the few in the U.S. accessible only by water.
From subsistence fishing to living in homes on stilts, this community maintains a deep connection to the environment despite the threats of coastal erosion. A powerful highlight of their journey was the 2024 return of 600 acres of ancestral mound land, a major step in preserving their heritage. Documenting this landscape and its people was a privilege I’ll never forget.

Ever seen an island shaped like a dolphin? 🐬✨

Captured from above, Gallo Lungo—the largest islet of the Li Galli archipelago off Positano—reveals a striking dolphin silhouette, complete with a natural "snout," elevated "dorsal fin," and curving "tail".

Steeped in mythology, ancient Greeks believed these islets were home to the Sirens, whose irresistible songs lured unsuspecting sailors onto the rocks! 🧜‍♀️🌊

Fast forward to today:

Ultra-Exclusive Private Estate: Owned by Italian hotelier Giovanni Russo, the island is a private luxury sanctuary complete with restored historic villas, a watchtower, landscaped gardens, and a helipad.

Strictly Off-Limits: Landing on the island is strictly restricted to preserve its privacy and ecology—though luxury buyouts are occasionally hosted for high-net-worth guests.

Protected Sanctuary: The surrounding turquoise waters are part of the Punta Campanella Marine Protected Area, making it one of the premier boat anchoring spots along the coast.

Drop a 💙 if you’d anchor here for an afternoon swim!

Rooftop views and free-flowing prosecco for Venice’s biggest tradition on the Grand Canal. 🥂✨

Watching the Regata Storica from the rooftop of Palazzo Barocci offers a front-row seat to over 700 years of living history.

Historical Highlights:

Ancient Origins: The first official record of Venetian boat races date back to the mid-13th century. It was originally used to train the republic’s galley crews in naval combat and endurance.

Royal Homage: The grand historical parade (Corteo Storico) recreates the lavish welcome given to Caterina Cornaro, Queen of Cyprus, who abdicated her throne to Venice in 1489.

The Bucintoro: The fleet is led by faithful reconstructions of 16th-century ceremonial vessels, including the Doge’s state barge (Bucintoro), with rowers clad in period costumes.

Traditional Technique: Competitors row using Voga alla Veneta, the unique stand-up rowing technique designed specifically to navigate the shallow Venetian lagoon.

Lost in the vertical dream of Positano 🍝✨

Did you know this iconic Amalfi Coast gem is built entirely into a sheer cliffside? Instead of streets, local life is navigated through thousands of winding staircases—meaning there’s practically no real room for cars in town!

3 mind-blowing facts about Positano:

Legendary Name: Legend says a 12th-century cargo ship carrying a painting of the Virgin Mary got stuck in a sudden calm offshore until sailors heard a mysterious voice whisper "Posa, posa" ("put down, put down"). They brought the icon ashore, and the town took its name.

Rock & Roll History: In the late 1960s, Mick Jagger and Keith Richards of The Rolling Stones wrote their hit song "Midnight Rambler" while hanging out in local Positano cafes.

No Soft Sand: Those picture-perfect shorelines aren't fine white sand—they’re made of dark, volcanic pebbles that heat up fast under the Mediterranean sun!

Add Positano to your ultimate Italy bucket list—just don't forget to pack your best walking shoes! 🇮🇹🍋

Sunset views and cliffside magic in the heart of the Amalfi Coast 🌅 ✨
Perched high above the shimmering Tyrrhenian Sea, Grand Hotel Excelsior offers breathtaking panoramic views of Amalfi's rugged coastline. Built into the terraced cliffs, this iconic hideaway gives you an unbeatable front-row seat to the Mediterranean’s most spectacular sunsets. 🌊🏙️
A few facts about this legendary stretch of paradise:
Rich Maritime History: Amalfi was once the capital of a powerful maritime republic in the 9th century, rivaling Genoa and Venice as a major naval trading power.
Birthplace of Modern Paper: Amalfi was one of the first places in Europe to produce paper (Bambagyna), starting in the 12th century after adapting Arab techniques—a trade still celebrated in the town today.
Terraced Scented Hills: The steep cliffside terraces surrounding Amalfi are famous for producing the world-renowned Sfusato Amalfitano—a sweet, aromatic lemon used to make authentic Italian limoncello.
Save this for your future Amalfi Coast trip! 📍🇮🇹
