A beautiful memory from mid-1990s, at the Burbank Ca. Antique Textile Show!
Marie Burn was one of my longtime and very special customer. She always came to my shows would collect pieces from every Afghan tribal region I carried. Over the years, she purchased thousands of dollars’ worth of my textiles , jewelry ,and clothing.

I remember once she was looking a piece she already had, and she said, “Yes, but I like to buy these things to keep my soul young.” at 90+ years old , I have never forgotten those words.

She was a wonderful woman with such a deep appreciation for culture, art, and history. We became good friends I was invited to her home several times. Her house was like a museum, filled with beautiful tribal art and treasures. She even served me lunch on beautiful china that had belonged to Napoleon
In this photo, she is dressed beautifully in Nooristani , and the young girl is her granddaughter . They always loved dressing completely in the style of the same region from head to toe.

Some customers become much more than customers. They become part of your story. Marie Burn will always be one of those people for me. ❤️
