🎬 Healing Pavilion Film Premiere Recap

Rapson 100 became a cinema for an evening celebrating the Healing Pavilion the people who designed and built it, the communities that shaped it, and the conversations that continue through it.

In collaboration with College of Design Ambassadors and Juxtaposition Arts’ Environmental Design Lab, National Organization of Minority Architecture Students at the University of Minnesota welcomed Environmental Design Lab apprentices to Rapson Hall, beginning the evening with a building and facilities tour led by College of Design Ambassadors.

From there, we gathered for a screening documenting the Healing Pavilion and the collaborative process behind its creation. The evening concluded with a panel bringing together Environmental Design Lab apprentices and design professionals from Juxtaposition Arts, Chango, Qadiym, and alumni Bella, who helped lead the pavilion’s design alongside apprentices and College of Design students.

More than a film premiere, the evening was an opportunity to bring students, apprentices, designers, and community members into the same space to reflect on what becomes possible when design is rooted in collaboration, learning, and community. 🌱

Finally, meet Nina, our 2026-2027 President!!🐉🐲

Hi everyone! My name is Nina Brown, I’m a BDA student in the first year of GD1 in the integrated program. I also have a sociology minor. I’m passionate about interdisciplinary design and social justice. Design shapes people and people shape design, I think this dynamic is fascinating and exciting, but difficult to figure out how to balance.

Outside of school, I love fashion, food, and discovering new music! Send me any recommendations you have! I’m super excited to plan lots of fun events, spark some inspiration, and have some insightful conversations this year! by @nomas.umn
