BRM1000, Malaysia 🇲🇾
12–15 September 2026

Distance: 1,020 km
Elevation Gain: 6,112 m
Elapsed Time: 64 hrs 39 mins

Alhamdulillah, arrived at 9:39 pm on the 3rd day. 🙏

For this ride, I made a plan with a specific purpose: to test my riding strategy for future long-distance rides and learn how to manage my energy and food intake while minimising unnecessary stops and keeping myself moving.

My plan was to stop every night at 10:00 pm and continue again at 3:00 am. I didn’t want to ride after 10:00 pm because I felt that I would become less efficient after that time. Instead, I decided it would be better to stop, rest, and get some proper sleep.

The plan worked very well. Most importantly, I was not sleepy during the day, which made a big difference throughout the ride.

From this ride, I learned that a minimum of 4 hours of solid sleep is good enough for me to recover and continue riding effectively.

Another lesson learned and another experience added to the journey. 🚴‍♂️

Alhamdulillah for the strength, the journey, and the safe arrival. 🤲

Tqvm to my family for always be there for me, and also friends for your support.

13 August | Cycling into Sweden

Early morning start from Copenhagen 🚆 → Helsingør, then a ferry ⛴️ across to Helsingborg, Sweden.

The ferry was surprisingly big and luxurious, with restaurants and even a duty-free shop. Not a bad way to start the Swedish adventure!

I arrived in Helsingborg before 9am and spent some time exploring the port and taking a few pictures. The old buildings and churches felt familiar — quite similar to Denmark, but with its own character.

Today’s goal: Falkenberg — around 160 km by bike. 🚴‍♂️

Along the way, I stopped at places that caught my attention and spent some time learning about cycling in Sweden. I was curious about the cycling rules and how the bike lanes are designed compared with Denmark.

There are definitely similarities and differences. Never mind — keep learning, keep observing, and keep adapting. 😊

Compared with Denmark, I noticed fewer cyclists here, but Sweden still feels very cycling-friendly.

And August is such a beautiful time to ride. 🌸 The weather was pleasant, not too windy, and flowers were blooming everywhere along the way.

I finally reached Falkenberg around 6pm. After a quick grocery stop, I checked into my Airbnb. A very nice room with everything I needed after a long day on the bike.

160 km done. Sweden officially dusted. 🇸🇪🚴‍♂️

One day, one ride, one new experience at a time.

LRM1300 – Denmark
7–11 August 2026

Day 5 – 11 August 2026
km1280 -km1435

The final day of LRM1300 kicked off at 5:10 AM with 155 km left on the clock before the 9:40 PM cut-off time.

First stop: CP14 in Roskilde around 9:37 AM for breakfast and a quick recharge. Since I had time on my side, I couldn’t resist a quick detour! I checked out the famous Viking Ship Museum and tackled a steep hill climb to visit the stunning Viking Church. Worth every extra watt!

From there, it was a quick 16 km hop to CP15 in Kirke Såby before setting my sights on the finish line. Nature decided to throw one final boss battle my way—relentless head/crosswinds on the final stretch. But at that point, you just empty the tank and push through.

At 2:02 PM, I officially crossed the Finish Line!

The organizer welcomed us into his home with warm coffee and homemade cake. Nothing beats that feeling. Huge shoutout to my new friend Allan, who gave me and my bike box a lift straight to my hostel in Copenhagen. Danish hospitality at its finest!

What an unforgettable journey across Denmark. Full heart, tired legs, and memories for a lifetime!

LRM1300 – Denmark
7–11 August 2026

Day 4 – 10 August 2026
KM974 – KM1280

Today, I had to start a little earlier than usual, at around 4:00 am, because I needed to catch my ferry from Aarhus to Odden at 10:15 am. The ride to the ferry terminal was about 100 km. I had booked the ferry ticket about two weeks earlier, and if I missed it, I would have to buy a new ticket, which would cost around RM180!

To make sure I had enough time, I gave myself about six hours to reach the ferry terminal. However, this morning it was raining. Thankfully, it wasn’t too heavy, and I kept praying that the rain would stop and would not become worse. Around 7:00 am, the rain became a little heavier, but luckily, by around 7:30 am, it finally stopped.

I reached the ferry terminal at 9:15 am, giving me about an hour to relax and have breakfast while waiting for the ferry. It was just nice—no rushing and plenty of time to rest after the early morning ride.

On the ferry, I met Allan, a cyclist from Denmark. We rode together towards CP12. Along the way, he became my unofficial tourist guide, telling me stories and sharing interesting information about the places we passed. It was a really enjoyable ride and made the journey much more interesting.

After CP12, it was time for me to continue my journey alone again towards CP13 in Korsør. Once I reached CP13, I checked in at my homestay and finally had the chance to rest properly.

I arrived at around 8:00 pm, thankfully before dark.

Another long day completed. The early start, rain, ferry ride and long-distance cycling made today quite different from the previous days, but everything went according to plan—and most importantly, I didn’t miss the ferry! 🚴‍♂️⛴️

LRM1300 - Denmark
7-11 August 202

6Day 3 – 9 August 2026
km667-km974

Today, I think, was the coldest day so far. As usual, I started almost at 5:00 am. The temperature dropped to around 8–9°C, and with the strong wind, it felt even colder. I had to stop along the way to put on extra protection for my fingers, especially.

One of the interesting places I passed today was Legoland. We also had to go through some gravel roads, and I kept praying that I would not get a puncture. Then, around KM780–820, the route took us along a coastal area. By the time I reached there, it was already around afternoon, and the wind had become quite strong. At the same time, the weather was very hot. So, I can say that today was both the coldest and the hottest day so far!

CP9 at Bork Havn was another interesting stop. It is a very nice tourist area, and because it was Sunday, there was a car boot sale not far from the CP, with people selling second-hand items and various other things. It immediately reminded me of my time studying in the UK, when we often went to car boot sales on Sundays. Seeing one again brought back some nice memories.

However, by Day 3, after riding more than 800 km, I was starting to feel quite tired. Maybe it was because I had been fighting against strong winds for the last few days. So, I decided to take a longer break for prayer and lunch before continuing the journey.

Finally, I reached our hotel at KM974 at 9:36 pm, luckily before it became completely dark. After arriving, I had my dinner, cooked some rice for the next day, and finally went to bed.

Another long and challenging day completed. 🚴‍♂️

LRM1300 - Denmark
7-11 August 2026

Day 2 – 8 August 2026
Km337-km663

On Day 2, I decided to go solo. It was easier for me to manage my own pace and schedule, and it also meant less stress from trying to keep up with other people’s pace and timetable.

I started at 5:00am, while the others planned to start at 6:00am. In a way, this made me feel safer because I knew they would always be behind me if I needed any assistance.

The wind was quite manageable today, although there were a few places where it was still quite strong. It was also not as cold as Day 1, so I was able to remove my windbreaker.

Overall, it was a pretty smooth day, except for one small challenge about 8km before reaching our hotel in Fredericia. The map was wrong, and I had to figure out by myself how to get back to the hotel. I lost about 10 minutes because of this.

But that is part of the challenge when riding in unfamiliar places and on roads we are not used to. We have to stay calm, double-check the alternatives, and make sure we can eventually get back to the original route.

At last, I managed to reach our hotel before 10:00pm. Another long day completed, and another lesson learned along the way.

LRM1300 - Denmark
7-11 August 2026

Day 1: 7 Aug

We rolled out at 7:00 AM. If I remember correctly, there were only 16 of us on the starting line, even though the organizer had capped the event at 25 participants.

About 5 km in, I tagged along with a group of local Danish riders. They set a strong, steady pace—a absolute lifesaver given the brutal winds sweeping across the course. Tucking into a group of six or seven allowed me to save crucial energy early on.

By the time we reached CP1 in Maribo at km 113, I was completely spent. We hadn’t stopped once since the start. Needing to eat and recover at my own pace, I thanked the group for their help and told them I’d be continuing solo. I let them roll out ahead. About five minutes later, as I was getting ready to leave, two of the riders returned—one of them had dropped his brevet card!

Reunited by chance, I jumped back on their wheels all the way to the ferry terminal at km 148. On the ferry, we caught up with the rest of the pack, and from there, we rode together all the way to our day-one hotel in Fredericia at km 337.

I owe that group a huge thank you. The headwinds were relentless, and holding their fast pace tested my mental limits—there were moments I felt like giving up. But staying in that paceline saved my legs and brought me into the hotel at 11:12 PM, a full hour ahead of my target time. They were an incredible group to ride with.

Denmark LRM 1300 km | 7–11 August 2026

Alhamdulillah, I made it to the finish line of the Denmark LRM 1300 km on 11 August at 2:02 pm, with an elapsed time of 103 hours and 2 minutes. Also congrats to Aiman and Patrick, who finished around 1am the same day. Malaysia Boleh!
Also congrats to other participants from Denmark and few other countries.

We started at 7:00 am on 7 August, with the original cut-off time set at 108 hours. However, an additional 2 hours and 40 minutes was given, making the final cut-off 110 hours and 40 minutes, due to the two ferry crossings we had to take—around 90 km by ferry on Day 1 and again on Day 4.

The elevation gain was only around 8,300 metres, so at first glance, the route might not seem particularly demanding. But for me, the real challenge of this ride was not the climbing. It was the battle with the wind and the cold.

From the beginning until the very end, we had to fight against crazy and relentless wind. The mornings were especially cold, making an already long ride even more challenging. There were moments when the conditions really tested both my physical strength and mental resilience.

But that was also what made this experience so meaningful.

Being able to experience such harsh conditions, adapt to the situation, and eventually overcome them gave me a different kind of satisfaction. It was more than just completing 1,300 km. It was an opportunity to step outside my comfort zone, learn how to deal with situations I had never experienced before, and grow from them.

Alhamdulillah for the opportunity, the strength, and the experience.

Sometimes, the biggest achievement is not the distance we cover or the time on the clock, but the person we become along the way.

Thank you very much to my family and friends for your support, really appreciate that.

Big Hill 8.8
🚴 Distance: 616 km
⛰️ Elevation Gain: 12,735 m
⏱️ Elapsed Time: 39h 32m

Alhamdulillah, this time I completed Big Hill 8.8 in 39 hours 32 minutes—finally under the 40-hour mark! 💪

Last year I also joined the route (without registering) on my MTB as part of my SRMR training and finished in almost 43 hours. I’m happy to have improved my time, although I have to admit this was a really tough ride and I didn’t enjoy it much.

Day 1 went quite smoothly. I reached Manik Urai at 9:24 pm and kept riding through the night like many of the other riders to stay on schedule.

The real challenge came on Day 2. Between 1:00 am and 7:00 am, I became extremely sleepy. I think I had to stop for a quick nap almost 10 times. My legs were still strong enough to pedal, but my eyes just wouldn’t stay open and I couldn’t focus. It was a real struggle just to keep moving.

Fortunately, after breakfast in Perasu at around 8:00 am, the sleepiness disappeared. Even so, I bought two bottles of coffee at the Petronas station in Gua Musang just in case it came back later.

The next challenge was the intense heat. The 21 km climb to R&R Eco Lojing was brutal. I started it at around 1:00 pm and only reached the R&R at 3:40 pm. It took me almost three hours to cover just 21 km because the temperature climbed to 43°C.

I rested at R&R Lojing for about 30 minutes, performed my solat, and continued riding at 4:10 pm towards BHP. I started the descent at 6:10 pm, and thankfully it was still daylight, making it much safer and allowing me to enjoy the scenery.

I only needed to switch on my lights for the last 20 km before reaching the finish line at 8:32 pm. The final 8 km were even better because I rode together with Doc Sideq.

A huge thank you especially my family and to everyone who supported and encouraged me throughout the ride. Every tough climb, every short nap, and every pedal stroke was worth it. Alhamdulillah for the strength and for a safe finish.
