hope everyone’s doing well finishing up the semester and heading into rrr week and finals week! before i get into other notes, i’d like to thank the og @paul.otterson5 for helping me film this video!

other notes:
- you can find their cafe on the 2nd floor of bampfa & they don’t require museum admission to enjoy their cafe (although for students, bampfa admission is free with your cal id — and i highly recommend exploring bampfa as well because i went with my friends after one of my finals last spring and it was so fun to look at art and make art) [update ‼️: bampfa will be implementing a 1 hour limit due to high influx of people]
- all of their drinks were incredible! we really loved the tchalia because it tasted like a ginger-flavored hot chocolate
- the pastries were not too sweet! which was a huge plus, and they were so fluffy and well-seasoned, we especially liked the chocolate babka swirl because it was light yet flavorful
- these dishes paid so much homage to chef nora (and i’s) roots as a southeast asian girlie (🇮🇩 🇸🇬, i’m personally 🇮🇩) and brought me back to my childhood but elevated because the presentation was gorgeous with the garnish and attention to seasonal eating
- the gado gado was especially refreshing yet filling and the singapore malay chicken rice was definitely a favorite because the chicken skin was cooked to an excellent crisp, the chicken was juicy, the rice was incredibly well seasoned and the sweet soy chili sauce was not too spicy, but added another dimension of flavor
- incredible service! i love chef nora! she’s so incredibly kind and accomodating, and you can tell she’s very passionate about food and feeding people. her staff is also incredibly kind and accomodating as well, and overall such wonderful people! taken in Berkeley Art Museum & Pacific Film Archive by @nora_haron

⚡Breaking News: Kopi Bar and Bakery is coming to BAMPFA!

☕ Created by Chef Nora Haron, the beloved Indonesian-inspired cafe is hailed by @SFChronicle as “one of the best coffee shops in the San Francisco Bay Area.” It will begin serving visitors this fall at its new location, just one block from the Downtown Berkeley BART.

🥑 The menu will feature their signature Avocado Coffee and other sustainably sourced espresso and cold brew coffee drinks, as well as sandwiches, salads, soups, handmade pastries and snacks.

🥐 Kopi Bar and Bakery will be open to all and accessible without museum admission. Stay tuned for more details!

For the longest time, I pushed for Moringa (Daun Kelor). 🌿 I love its Nusantara roots, its earthy flavor and everything it represents.

But the people have spoken. Y’all want matcha 🍵. 😂 And if I’m going to serve matcha, I want to understand it and serve one I actually believe in.

The Matcha Factory @thematchafactory led by my friend Kori work directly with organic tea farmers in Shizuoka, Japan, producing beautiful matcha with clean energy and a seed-to-cup philosophy centered around sustainability, hospitality and connecting cultures through tea.

After my own time in Japan learning more about matcha and the ritual and care behind it, this partnership just made sense.

So yes… I finally gave in. 😂 Matcha is officially at Kopi Bar. And Moringa is not going away! 💚 taken in Kopi Bar and Bakery by @nora_haron
