It’s on! @festival_circulations has opened its doors at @104paris.

My work „Alternative, 2019-20“, a unique polyptych comprising 175 toned cyanotypes on specific lining paper is on view in Atelier 5 of Centquatre Paris from today until 10th May 2020. You can find it among a wonderful selection of other works presented in the wonderful venue of @104paris. Wonderful location, great exhibitions, great curation by @_audreyhoareau_ ! Thanks to the welcoming and friendly atmosphere here - and the whole team of @festival_circulations that worked so hard! You are amazing! ❤️🙏🏽👏
As #corvid19 measures are taken, there will be only 100 visitors at the same time be able to see the exhibitions. So all take care, wash hands properly, no French kiss kiss to say hello, just a #coronashake unfortunately.

My new book „Blueprint,2017-20“ is out! You can order signed copies via pm or on my website ✌️

This book contains a selection of photographs from my two part work Blueprint. I created the first half of the project “Blueprint, 2017-18” while I was living in London for a year during the countdown to the United Kingdom’s departure from the European Union. I produced the second half, “Blueprint 2019-20” after my return to Berlin. While the two bodies can each be exhibited as a large grid of 175 A3 cyanotypes or as smaller selections, the book offers a non-chronological edit from the archive that make up the two parts of the project.

"Blueprint 2017–20 is partially about Brexit: about nationalism and xenophobia and how they play out visually on a local and global stage. It is also about contemporary image culture, the TV and internet, and the way media images are used—both consciously and unconsciously—to persuade, provoke and influence us."

A closer look at three arrangements from EXIT, 2022–2024 — each consisting of three works, and all now part of the collection of the @berlin.museum.

Each arrangement brings together different perspectives on Berlin’s emergency hatches — structures that are usually hidden in plain sight, becoming visible only when they are opened for a brief moment.

And a little side note about the second image, hatch D197: photographing this one led to a rather unexpected and funny encounter with the police. 🚓
But more on that another time… 😉

Ein besonderer Moment für EXIT, 2022–2024! ✨

Ich freue mich sehr, dass 27 Arbeiten aus dem Werkkomplex EXIT vom Berliner Senat für die Sammlung des Berliner Stadtmuseums angekauft wurden. @berlin.museum

Damit wird EXIT Teil der Berliner Stadtgeschichte, ist dauerhaft archiviert und kann auch zukünftig vom Museum für Ausstellungen ausgeliehen und gezeigt werden.

Für mich ist das eine große Freude und Anerkennung – besonders, weil sich die Arbeit mit Fragen beschäftigt, die heute aktueller denn je sind: Sicherheit und Verletzlichkeit, Vorsorge und Unsicherheit, die Möglichkeit eines Ereignisses, das vielleicht nie eintritt.

Ich bin sehr stolz und dankbar, dass diese Arbeit nun einen festen Platz in der Sammlung des Berliner Stadtmuseums gefunden hat.

Ein ganz besonderer Dank an Ines Hahn vom @berlin.museum für ihr Vertrauen und die Wertschätzung dieser Arbeit. ❤️

I’m incredibly happy that Blueprint (2017–18) is part of Pierre Brahm’s extraordinary collection. It is a true honor to be represented alongside artists such as Irving Penn, Daido Moriyama, Helmut Newton, Roger Ballen, Eugène Atget, Man Ray, Chris Killip, Richard Avedon, Lee Friedlander, Abelardo Morell, Diane Arbus, Bill Brandt, Alex Prager, Nobuyoshi Araki, Simon Norfolk, Don McCullin, Thomas Ruff, Pieter Hugo, Simon Roberts, Viviane Sassen, Robert Frank, Sebastião Salgado, and so many others.

Last week I received this beautiful catalogue that pays tribute to a committed collector of photographs.

Ten years ago today, Britain voted to leave the European Union.

Blueprint (2017–2020) emerged in the years that followed. The work traces the afterimages of a political moment that seemed to redraw the map of Europe—not through borders alone, but through emotions, fears, desires and the circulation of images.

Created from digital fragments and translated into cyanotypes, these photographs slow down what was once consumed in an instant. Social media posts, headlines, gestures and symbols become ghostly blue imprints—records of a moment when the future felt uncertain and history appeared to accelerate.

Looking at these works today, a decade after the referendum, they feel less like documents of a specific event and more like traces of a broader question: How are collective realities imagined, constructed and remembered through images?

Today, images from Blueprint accompany a new article by @decorrespondent reflecting on Brexit ten years on and asking what remains of the promises, anxieties and predictions that shaped that historic vote.

Time changes events. Images remain. But they change, too.
