The Normfather! Great to celebrate the ol’ chap’s 90th birthday over the weekend in Norfolk. He navigated the many steps, the cobbled patios and thresholds in the Mansion House we hired. The perfect weekend despite me dislocating the lining of my replacement knee! Happy Birthday father. Brilliant open day at @canalrivertrust Bradley Workshop near Bilston. Great guided tour and walk explaining how lock gates (or rather leaves) are made. Very instructive and thought provoking. Great to see how these heritage crafts have been adapted over the years and how new technologies are being employed. taken in Bradley Lane by @normolddog

Bit of culture yards from the boat at B’ham Symphony Hall. The Munich Philharmonic Orchestra with world renowned pianist Martha Argerich. The playlist was:
Louise Farrenc’s Overture No. 2 in E-flat
Beethoven’s second Piano Concerto
Ravel’s Ma Mere L’oye for four hands with conductor Lahav Shani joining Argerich on the piano.
Brahms’ Fourth Symphony and his Hungarian Dance No.5 as an encore.
It was 85 year old Martha Argerich’s first appearance at Symphony Hall in over 30 years. It was outstanding. taken in Symphony Hall, Birmingham by @normolddog

It’s been 18 months since we had a film crew and Gal Gadot running all over our boat. The film “The Runner” has made it to the small screen on Amazon Prime. A day’s filming is on screen for about 5 seconds. Some good shots along The Regent’s Canal through Kentish Town, St Pancras and Coals Drop Yard. A few shots from my solo trip (Kate was visiting her Mum) from Stourbridge to Birmingham. The 25 locks weren’t what made it hard going - it was the frequent trips to the weed-hatch to clear plastic bags and fishing line. I had to stop four times for the last stage from Netherton Tunnel to Brum. Still, I got to my destination in time for Kate’s return to New Street Station. We are staying put for a few weeks as we have a wedding and a trip away planned. If anyone’s in town give us a shout for a coffee, tea or beer! by @normolddog
