Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh visited the Leh Sector from June 5 to 7, 2026, to review the operational preparedness, border infrastructure and logistical sustainability of forces deployed in strategically important areas of Ladakh.During the visit, the Defence Secretary held detailed discussions with senior military commanders at Headquarters 14 Corps, focusing on the prevailing security situation, infrastructure development along border areas and measures aimed at strengthening operational readiness in challenging high-altitude conditions.As part of his tour, Rajesh Kumar Singh visited forward locations in Eastern Ladakh, including Base Camp and Northern Glacier. He assessed ground-level operational arrangements and reviewed the logistical support systems that sustain troops deployed in remote and demanding terrains.The Defence Secretary also interacted with soldiers stationed in forward areas, appreciating their professionalism, commitment and service under difficult weather and terrain conditions. by @northindiatime

SNM District Hospital, Leh, along with Ayushman Arogya Mandirs (AAM-HWCs) across the district, celebrated the 10th anniversary of the Pradhan Mantri Surakshit Matritva Abhiyan (PMSMA) under the theme “10 Years of PMSMA – A Decade of Care.”The programme highlighted the achievements of PMSMA in strengthening maternal healthcare through quality antenatal services and the timely identification of high-risk pregnancies. As part of the event, an awareness session was conducted by Dr. Ayesha Malo, Consultant Gynaecologist at SNM District Hospital Leh, who spoke about maternal nutrition, danger signs during pregnancy, and the importance of regular antenatal check-ups.Deputy Medical Superintendent and District Health Officer, Dr. Norbu Angchuk, emphasized the significance of PMSMA in promoting safe motherhood and enhancing maternal health services across the district.Dr. Stanzin Dolker, Gynaecologist, underscored the importance of early pregnancy registration, routine antenatal care, and institutional deliveries. She also acknowledged the dedicated contributions of Auxiliary Nurse Midwives (ANMs), Accredited Social Health Activists (ASHAs), and other frontline healthcare workers in advancing maternal and child healthcare services.The programme further featured an awareness session on the 108 Ambulance Service, which provides free 24×7 emergency transportation for pregnant women and other patients requiring urgent medical assistance.Approximately 20 to 25 pregnant women, along with AMT students, ANMs, ASHAs, and healthcare staff, participated in the event, reflecting the continued commitment of health authorities towards improving maternal and child health outcomes in the district. by @northindiatime

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has released the provisional answer keys, question papers, and recorded responses for the Common University Entrance Test (CUET-UG) 2026, enabling candidates to review their responses and challenge the provisional answer key if required.According to a public notice issued by the NTA, the CUET (UG) 2026 examination was conducted from May 11 to May 31 and again on June 6 and 7 in Computer-Based Test (CBT) mode at multiple centres across India and abroad. A total of 15,68,867 registered candidates appeared for the examination.The agency stated that the provisional answer keys, along with question papers and recorded responses, have been made available on the official CUET website for candidates who appeared in the examination during the specified dates.Candidates who are not satisfied with the provisional answer key may challenge it by paying a non-refundable processing fee of ₹200 per question challenged. The answer key challenge window will remain open from June 9 to June 11, 2026, until 10:00 PM, while the fee payment can be completed up to 11:50 PM on June 11, 2026.The NTA has clarified that challenges submitted without payment of the prescribed fee will not be considered. Payments can be made through Credit Card, Debit Card, Net Banking, or UPI.As per the notice, all objections received from candidates will be reviewed by a panel of subject experts. If a challenge is found to be valid, the answer key will be revised and the correction will be applied to all candidates accordingly. The final result will be prepared and declared based on the revised final answer key.The agency further noted that candidates will not be informed individually about the acceptance or rejection of their challenges. The decision taken by the subject experts after reviewing the objections will be final.Candidates have been advised to regularly visit the official CUET website for updates regarding the answer key challenge process and result declaration. by @northindiatime

In a significant initiative aimed at supporting education in the border village of Kaksar, Kreative Change, an initiative of the Altruvera Social Foundation, distributed stationery items among students of Government High School Kaksar.The educational support programme was facilitated by Ms. Zaibun Nissa, Coordinator of the initiative, who distributed the stationery to students and interacted with them during the event. A group of 30 students and 4 faculty members from Government Degree College Kargil, Sankoo Campus completed a three-day Educational-cum-Exposure Tour to Srinagar, Jammu & Kashmir, from 06-08 June 2026, The tour was conducted under the visionary leadership and able support of Banu Prabha (IAS), Administrative Secretary, Higher Education UT Ladakh and Principal Disket Angmo, GDC Kargil. The tour was organized with the objective of providing students with educational, cultural, environmental, patriotic and experiential learning opportunities beyond the classroom.During the tour, the students visited several important educational institutions and tourist destinations across Kashmir.A major highlight of the programme was an academic visit to SPCollege Srinagar, where the students interacted with faculty members and students to gain an understanding of the academic culture and educational environment of one of the premier institutions in the Valley. The visiting students were given access to the college library, Zoology Museum, science laboratories, and various academic departments, including the Department of Physics, enabling them to gain valuable academic exposure and practical insights.The students also explored the scenic tourist destination of Doodhpathri, where they experienced the natural beauty of rural Kashmir. During their visit, they closely observed traditional paddy cultivation practices and interacted with local communities to understand agricultural activities. They were further introduced to apiculture (beekeeping), gaining first-hand knowledge about honey production and its significance in the rural economy of Kashmir.As part of their cultural and heritage exposure, the students visited the world-famous Mughal Gardens and other heritage sites in Srinagar. They also toured Lal Chowk and the iconic Ghanta Ghar, where they reflected on the sacrifices and contributions of India’s national heroes and observed the socioeconomic vibrancy of the region. The two-day Camp Office of ARTO Kargil concluded today at Zanskar, bringing essential services directly to the doorsteps of residents.During the camp, the ARTO Kargil team carried out fitness inspections of both commercial and non-commercial vehicles, renewal of driving licences, issuance of permits and registrations, and driving tests for applicants of fresh driving licences. The initiative was aimed at providing convenient facilities for public in term of completing documents who face difficulties in traveling to Kargil.On the sidelines of the camp, ARTO Kargil held a meeting with the Deputy Commissioner and Superintendent of Police, Zanskar, to deliberate on key transport-related issues of the newly created district and to strengthen inter-departmental coordination.In a significant step towards road safety awareness, ARTO Kargil, in collaboration with Zanskar Degree College under the leadership of Dr. Amjad Abbasi, Principal, and Zanskar Police, organized a panel discussion on road safety. The session witnessed innovative suggestions and ideas from students and stakeholders for improving traffic management and road safety in the district.The program was graced by Sh.
