Kenosha Country Club is quickly rising up Wisconsin’s private club rankings, however it feels like this recently restored Donald Ross gem is still flying below the radar.

For those who know though, this place is a Midwest Mecca of golden age architecture!

Short courses are popping up everywhere in Wisconsin these days, with one of the newest being the Wee Nip at @grand_geneva, a 11-hole blast that includes a free shot of whisky, a blind hole, and even an 80-yard putting hole! The replay value is strong with this course, and I can’t wait to get back out!

Lake Geneva is packed with luxury golf, but even in the rain, a day at Grand Geneva is hard to beat!

After over a century, Watertown Country Club has opened its course to the public! Located about halfway between Milwaukee and Madison, this stellar parkland course offers a challenging blend of holes, many of which are cut by the meandering Silver Creek. Managed by @oliphantgolfco, the conditions are some of the best you’ll find in the area, especially around the greens. If you want a taste of the private club experience, @watertowncc_wi is definitely worth the visit!

Sometimes a course’s surroundings can be just as captivating as the holes themselves. Here are a few of my recent favorites.

Michigan’s newest golf course, the Cedar Course at @islandresortgolf, takes inspiration from some of the most legendary holes in golf, from the classic templates of CB Macdonald to recreations of Augusta National and Riviera! In this video, I go through the inspiration for each hole and the features that make the architecture so great!

While almost everyone knows Greywalls as one of Michigan’s best golf courses, its sister course, the Heritage at Marquette GC, is an incredible hidden gem!

With 9 original holes designed by the legendary Langford and Moreau that have been carefully restored by superintendent @craig4433, the Heritage features some of the largest, most contoured greens you will ever see, with none crazier than the 19,000 square foot 6th.

On your visit to Greywalls, I highly recommend taking the time to see this phenomenal golden age masterpiece!

By far the more rugged of the two courses at the @islandresortgolf Sage Run is a gorgeous championship course that plays over one of the Upper Peninsula’s many rolling drumlins. Holes play up, down, and around these imposing slopes, giving golfers amazing views of the course and native prairies. It definitely is far more of a difficult test then its neighbor at Sweetgrass, but for those looking for a challenge, Sage is a wonderful option.
