Elle Decoration France Feb/Mar 26 Issue 331. For those who know me well, Elle Decoration has been my favorite magazine since my teens. I remember lingering over every glossy page, learning how design could tell stories, how objects could carry culture, and how creativity could travel across borders. ROYAL CARIBBEAN- Creating these installations and watching them take shape in the studio this summer was truly a rewarding process. Grateful to have created two large-scale works for Celebrity Cruises that bring art and travel together. How does making art change your state of consciousness? “Embroidery has become a way for me to meditate and reflect. It began as an escape from the fast-paced corporate design life that I’ve since left behind, offering a slower, more intentional way of creating. The calming repetitive movement of stitching slows everything down and creates a quiet space where I am at ease. As I stitch through wood, I let intuition take over and lead me through building color palettes, forms and layers. Working with wood and architecturally inspired forms, I’ve started to consider how light moves through a piece, how shadows shift throughout the day, and how the work changes within its environment. It reminds me that nothing is static. Working with these materials continually reminds me that there is something profoundly beautiful about the dialogue between the softness of fiber and the enduring strength of wood. Creating art allows me to be more thoughtful and self-aware when it comes to time, nature, and myself.
