I’m so grateful to be included & to take this time to talk about a part of me that is so central to my identity. Thank you to @_chronicallybookish @kpbookstagram and @caprivoyant for organizing & hosting this amazing tour ❤️

If you have any questions I’m very open to talking about disability at large & my own personal experience with disability as long as you act with respect. But please don’t expect all other disabled people to be your education tools!

Later this month I plan to talk a bit more about each of my disabilities & some books representing each, so stay tuned if you want a more in depth look!

Reading around the world: trying to read a book from every country in my lifetime!

Here is my progress so far and some ideas of what books I will hopefully read 📚

My plans are all open to change, and if you have any suggestions on any country I have listed or not, feel free to offer your suggestions!

I’m trying to do my research on every author & country as I go, but if I’ve made any mistakes, let me know

This will be a slow project that I don’t expect to finish for a good long while. I’m hoping to read 5-10 new countries a year, prioritizing marginalized authors, indie authors, and genres I gravitate towards already when possible

Book recs based on your fav thing at the Great Minnesota Get-Together (aka Minnesota state fair!)

It’s a little late bc I’ve been living in ✨migraine✨ land but I have even more recs if y’all are interested!

What’s your favorite thing at the state fair? And did you know the Minnesota State Fair is the biggest state fair by daily attendance in the country?

✨ 5 ⭐️ Review ✨

Kimberly Lemming is one of my favorite authors, and this book proves why!

I’m not usually one for an “unlikable” mmc, or any man that tries to be controlling. Yet somehow Kimberly Lemming managed to endear me to him immediately.

Is it us meeting mid someone trying to un-alive him? Is it that he’s immediately down bad for our strong female character? Or maybe it’s that he protects our woman, even when he can’t understand what she’s saying or her very clear attempt to communicate with him via interpretative dance, who can say?

I’d highly recommend this book to anyone that wants a somewhat lighthearted enemies to lovers (where yes they actually try to 💀 each other!) set in a lovingly ridiculous alien planet with fated mates, or love a book that openly subverts romcom tropes

PLEASE read book 1 in this interconnected “standalone” series first! While it’s a new couple, so much of the lore will be lost without reading in order

One of my most anticipated books of the year & I’m happy to say it did not disappoint ❤️

Do note that there is more on-page violence than the author’s previous books, so please check the TW if you are expecting 0 action & turmoil

A snippet of our 800+ mile roadtrip with our cat Pumpkin to our new home!

He was such a good sport with the sedation and cuddles we gave him, it couldn’t have gone better!

Lots of trial & error before the big day helped made this trip go that much more smoothly

He’s adjusting so well to his new home, as am I! A lot more unpacking to do but hopefully I’ll be more consistent posting soon 💙

So honored to get to see one of my all time favorite authors in person for the release of her new book!

Kimberly Lemming’s books are all the things I look for in a comfort read: strong main characters, lots of laughs, goofy but thought out premises, and so much heart & spice along the way.

Some of my favorite highlights (other than meeting her & the author of one of my favorite cozy fantasies of the year, @maryeroachauthor )

🐿️ Kimberly Lemming got the idea for this series based in part by watching Meerkat Manor (squirrel is the closest to a meerkat I could find!)

📝 ‘first thought, best thought’ writing advice when you’re writing your first draft (don’t second guess yourself in the first stage!)

🐱 Kimberly Lemming has 3 pets named Bandicoot, Pikachu and Charmander (OBSESSED)

🌶️ Chuck Tingle encouraged Kimberly Lemming admidst a crowd to start writing spicy books for 🍺 money at one of his events!

👾 after she finishes her current series (at least 1 more in the alien world & 2 more in the fantasy world!) we might be seeing some litRPG in her future 👀

I am SO EXCITED for her newest installment and I will be sat for any future books of her forever! If you ever get the chance to go to one of her events do it, because she’s just as funny in person!

Thank you @tropesandtrifles @kimberlylemming and everyone else for such a warm welcome for my first book event as an official Minnesota resident!

Looking for a queer hidden identity romance full of heart, book love, and queer community?

Do I have the book review for you today!

I picked this book up on large part for #TheDiverseBaseline to read a book by a racialized author with historically marginalized religious representation (in this case, the fmc is Black & Ashkenazi Jewish) so thank you to @bookish.millennial @themargherita.s @hyperfixatedreader

Yael is a school librarian with a hidden secret: she runs a podcast critiquing classics on school curriculums behind the persona “Elle.” After a run in with her Bipolar 2, she realizes she needs help and finds it through a mysterious new podcast editor, Kevin.

Meanwhile, Kevin (who goes by Ravi in most of his life) flees from a hookup wanting commitment through Yael’s apartment window, not realizing she is home. Yael is glad she never needs to face her roommate-abandoner Ravi again... until he happens to sign up as a volunteer for the queer bookclub she runs for her school.

Hidden Identity romance is one of my favorite tropes for a reason! I love the hatred sizzling in person, yet the slow build up of feelings online. Both our main characters start feeling so confused when their IRL nemesis starts looking kinda hot!

I love getting to see such a wide array of queer characters in this MF romance. Both our main characters are bisexual, making perfect role models for their high school students trying to figure out growing up queer.

Yael’s Bipolar 2, while not super active during the story, was super relatable to my personal experiences with Bipolar 2. The worries of being “too much” for a partner was so real, and at times I wanted to pull her into a big hug.

I also loved Ravi in a semi-parental role, trying his best to help his brother and niece, and the added conflict his situation brought to the romance. I often don’t like when men say they are “too busy” for their female love interest, but in this case taking care of family made him that much more lovable.

I recommend to anyone looking for a fun but heart-filled romance full of diverse characters and lots of lovable kids.

Happy Pride, here’s my before and after of coming out to my mom as promised in my @transrightsreadathon fundraiser

It took me a week or two to edit this as even though it went well, my body went into overdrive & protective mode following this! My nerves were very shot, as you can maybe tell by these very edited videos!

If you’re not out to your family, know you’re just as valid, and if you do choose to come out to them, I hope it goes as well as possible too ❤️

Books on my tbr that bring me hope, my contribution to #HopeIsAVerb initiative by @dan.devours.words and @kieranjanebooks

Most of my books are packed in preparation for my move, so I decided to include books that I think will bring me hope. Hope of a disabled future, hope seeing queer characters giving and receiving love, seeing hope in the inherent queerness of nature, in seeing disabled characters being badasses in fantasy

I know it’s one of the last days of pride month but I don’t stop existing at the end of the month so now’s as good as a time as ever

Reading: 🩸 Flesh & Magic by Viano Oniomoh on ebook, it was never going to be okay by jaye simpson, and The Obake Code by Makana Yamamoto on audiobook

Identity: queer, trans, nonbinary, demisexual, disabled

Drink: water & Pepsi zero pretty much always! Though I need to be drinking more electrolyte drinks

Enjoying: Pokemon cards, puzzling, audiobooks, my sweet weird cat, Game Changer, and music from Cain Culto have been on repeat in my playlists!
