🫧 12 challenge time 🫧

this is my fourth year doing the 12 challenge, and after completing it last year for the first time, i am SO pumped for this year!!! i had so many friends send me recs that it was hard to narrow it down to 12, but i did it. two books were recommended twice, hence there actually being 14 friends, but that’s okay hehe

i was inspired by @auroralovesherbooks to make this not only a feed post but also a carousel post, so go check hers out!! 🫵🏽

2025 was a year that brought freedom, rest, frustration, and tears but also so so so so many great moments with the folks I love. I was able to swing a few trips to see my favs. Including a roadtrip to Sioux Falls and the Chicago in June, a week in New England, a day and a half in NYC, and then a few days in San Diego this month. Don’t ask me how I’m affording this, I’m not 😫😜

Under the surface I’ve been continuing to deal with the effects of my macro-adenoma coming back (another MRI was just done last week… waiting do the results to see how much it has grown, if any) and learning the ropes of how to deal with Secondary Addison’s Disease on top of ME/CFS, POTS, EDS. I think I was a genetic magnet for all of these things. Maybe not. Idk. It’s truly all so confusing sometimes.

Other glimmers:

✨ was able to throw two fundraisers for @okartforpalestine and send funds to friends on the ground in 🍉 with the help of many folks who made it happen!
✨ we moved from the burbs into basically the Asian district and being close to friends/being able to walk or easily bike places has been SICK
✨ have been slowly building muscle strength back! Had some meds adjusted that has given me the energy to do anything outside of the bare minimum
✨ Jay started law school in September and I’m continuing my slow process of working on my comp sci degree, both of us being part time. Don’t ask when we are supposed to graduate 😂😂😂
✨ we’ve fallen more and more in love with OKC and our community. Oklahoma is worth the work.

Thank you for following along, I know I’m chaotic and all over the place sometimes but I genuinely appreciate each and every nice message or heart on a story. Ive realized that sometimes chronic illness has its own plan, and sometimes it ruins plans or goals I’ve had. Has anybody cracked the code on how to exist as a crip.. remembering your meds, sleeping, working, taking care of yourself AND thriving?? (While also masking up!)

Kieran began #bookstackforformula hoping to be a light in the darkness. But after two years of livestreamed horror in Gaza, we both know that trying to hold on to hope often feels much like trying to hold a candle in a rainstorm.

Though we know the darkness will not be so easily defeated, an incredible 323 of you joined us to post your white & cream bookstacks, highlighting the campaign and raising your voices to call for an end to the g3n0c1d3. Where four weeks ago, Kieran held a trembling flame alone in the darkness, now we see a whole cathedral of candles lighting the way forward.

Thanks to the kindness of friends and strangers, we are delighted to share that a massive $4,500 has been donated to the Gaza Formula Fund and the PCRF over the last four weeks (completely smashing our initial expectation of raising $1,200) - and that doesn’t even include the dozens of you who made donations directly. Some of you we know well, though many of you were strangers before this campaign, friends of friends of friends, but you are all invited to our 111th birthday party, and tea is always at four should you be stopping by :) We will try to tag everybody who has made a stack in the comments below.
