I spent many sleepless nights listening to Tommy’s album ‘Music for Insomniacs’. Then, in 2018–2019, his track ‘Allow Me to Destroy You’ was playing in every hip spot. Tommy turned out to be incredibly cool, a bit shy, but very easy-going. We interviewed him for Valet 6, and in Valet 7 we published a short autobiographical piece by him, which I illustrated with a series of self-portraits taken in a photo booth outside the train station.

‘As an adolescent, when I wasn’t wrestling or hitting the books, I sat at the home spinet, practicing piano and daydreaming. I’m convinced that one reason for my relative survival mentally is the time I spent from six to sixteen, my subconscious lying dormant, leaving the analytical left brain to concentrate on fingering, harmony, and execution.’
