Punjab stands still today for Parvinder Singh Jhota. His family and the Insaaf Morcha Committee have called a Punjab Bandh from 6am to 5pm, demanding a CBI investigation into his killing.

The accused chemist was arrested yesterday. His father says others share the blame.

Justice, not silence. Share his story. ✊

Born on February 26, 1944, in village Panshta, Kapurthala, to Mata Surjit Kaur and Sardar Jamiat Singh, Shaheed Jathedar Talwinder Singh Babbar relocated to Canada in 1970. Deeply impacted by the 1978 Vaisakhi massacre of unarmed Sikhs, he returned to Punjab to mobilize the Panth, founding the Chalda Vaheer Chakarvarti Dal and co-founding Babbar Khalsa to execute actions against state-backed anti-Sikh elements.
Facing intense state persecution and reward bounties, Bhai Sahib spearheaded international networks across North America, Europe, and Pakistan to sustain the freedom movement. Re-entering Punjab to lead resistance operations, he was captured by police in Jammu through an informant in September 1992.
After enduring extreme interrogation, forty-eight-year-old Jathedar Sahib was extrajudicially executed in a staged encounter near Phillaur on October 15, 1992.

Today marks the Shaheedi of Jathedar Bhai Talwinder Singh Ji, who dedicated his life to the Seva of the Panth and the struggle for the establishment of Khalistan.

Jathedar Sahib spent many years doing Parchaar of Sikhi and initiating Sangat into the Khalsa through Amrit Sanchars in Panjab. Following the 1984 attack, he provided leadership and guidance to Sikh communities across Western countries, helping organize support for the Sikh freedom movement and resistance.

Jathedar Sahib later became a prominent figure in the armed resistance while continuing his Parchaar among Sikh communities across Western countries.

Jathedar Ji eventually entered the Maidaan-e-Jung, spending years on the frontlines of guerrilla warfare before attaining Shaheedi on October 15, 1992.

Long Live Jathedar Bhai Talwinder Singh Ji.

Long Live Khalistan.

Sant Jarnail Singh Ji's mission was never simply about attaining shaheedi. It was about transforming society.

Freeing the youth of Panjab from drug addiction, reconnecting people with Gurbani, bringing them into the Guru's fold and rebuilding a society grounded in Gurmat.

Yet today, his mission is often reduced to the claim that he simply wanted to die.

In this snippet, we discuss why the Indian state struggled to respond to a figure who could not be bought, bribed or persuaded to abandon his principles. Ultimately, the confrontation ended with tanks being deployed against Sri Darbar Sahib in June 1984.

To understand Sant Ji's shaheedi, we must also understand the life, work and mission that preceded it.

Families are still waiting for justice. What will you tell them, Diljit?

On 1 November 1984, mobs hunted Sikhs through the streets of Delhi. Over three days, more than 3,000 were killed in the capital alone. Men and boys were burned alive. Women and girls were raped in front of their families. Gurdwaras, homes and shops were set on fire.

42 years later, on that same date, in that same city, Diljit Dosanjh will open his Aura tour at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium.

This is a man who told this story on screen in Jogi. He knows what 1 November means. A Rajya Sabha MP has already asked him publicly to rethink the date. So far, there has been no reply.

Only a handful of people have ever been convicted for 1984. Many of the accused still walk free. The families are still waiting. And now they’re expected to spend the anniversary listening to a concert across their city.

If the attack on Sri Darbar Sahib in June 1984 laid the foundation for Khalistan, as Sant Jarnail Singh Ji declared, then what is our responsibility today?

A foundation alone does not make a house. Each generation must continue building upon what came before it.

The first bricks laid will eventually be concealed beneath those that follow. They may no longer be visible, but without them, nothing above could stand.

The task of our generation is not simply to remember those who laid the foundations, but to build upon their sacrifices so that future generations can take the work further.
