ART INSTALLER at the Atlanta Art Fair! 🥹🎨✨

Thank you to the AUC Art History + Curatorial Studies Collective and Rachel Morris for sharing this opportunity, and a huge thank you to ♥️♥️MIA ♥️♥️ at Black Women in Visual Art for hiring me and being so welcoming, kind, and supportive of my professional journey. Thank you for the fair passes too! 🫶🏾

There was something really special about experiencing the Atlanta Art Fair as someone working in the space, not just attending it. I had the opportunity to work alongside artists Lillian Blades and Natrice Miller, whose work will be on display and available for purchase at the Black Women in Visual Art booth. And then I bumped into @charitymadeit! Having known of her work since her days as a tattoo artist at City of Ink and then spending this summer enjoying her art throughout Atlanta, seeing how her practice has evolved is a true testament to what it looks like to live your goddamn dream. 🥹🖤

And then came another FULL CIRCLE moment: meeting Claire Oliver! After spending my summer processing the Michael and Claire Oliver African Art Book Collection at the AUC Woodruff Library, I got to tell Claire personally what that collection and experience meant to me.

Seeing galleries from NYC, especially Harlem, was another treat. I lived in New York for years and somehow never stepped into a Harlem gallery. Life is funny like that. 😂

Go to the fair. Visit the galleries. Support the artists. Live with art. Work with art. BE A PART OF ART. 🖤🎨

Being a part of this event felt like a little love letter to the life I’m building. 🖤✨

Honored to lend my support to the High Museum of Art’s 21st Annual David C. Driskell Prize Gala, celebrating Dr. Cheryl Finley as the 2026 recipient. 🖤✨

(The David C. Driskell Prize celebrates extraordinary contributions to the field of African American art and art history. 🖤✨)

I feel so special when I’m in these spaces and realize the faces are becoming familiar, connecting with people I’ve learned from, admired, and now get to know. It’s a beautiful reminder that I’m exactly where I’m supposed to be. 🥹🖤

Forever grateful for the AUC Art History + Curatorial Studies Collective and Dr. Ola, Dr. Houseman, Professor Nagawa, Dr. Taylor, and of course, Dr. Finley. 🖤

Delighted to bump into Charly Palmer and Dr. Karida Brown as well.🖤✨

Black art. Black scholarship. Black community. And Candy finding a place in it all. 🖤✨🍬

Candy & Milton went to the High 🥹🖼️✨

We talked scale, color, precision and all the little things that make you stop and LOOK. Amy Sherald. Kara Walker. Radcliffe Bailey. Seeing work I’ve studied in person will never get old.

But really, this is your reminder: GO TO THE MUSEUM. 🤎 Take the kids. Take a friend. Take yourself. Look up the free days and USE THEM. Art is for us too. 🫶🏾

Now THIS is what I mean when I talk about AUC unity. ❤️🖤💙

Last night, CAU alumna Amy Sherald sat in conversation with Spelman alumna Calida Rawles, two brilliant women, two AUC schools, and a friendship that goes all the way back to their undergrad days.

And listen… as the ONLY CAU Art History graduate from Spring 2026, seeing Clark Atlanta represented up there had me sitting a little taller. 😂🐾❤️ Like okayyyyy, WE IN THE ROOM!

I also loved seeing two graduating seniors from the AUC Art History + Curatorial Studies Collective help open the evening: Maya Evans introduced Amy, and Calida’s daughter, Sky Rawles, introduced her mama. Ming Joi Washington brought it home with some sisterly spoken word.

We can argue about who has the best school all day (and I already know my answer 😂), but THIS is the AUC: showing up for each other, creating together, opening doors, and being badass teammates and friends.

The school pride is individual. The legacy is collective. ❤️🖤💙

Tomorrow’s the big day! 📚✨

I’m excited to present the culmination of my summer internship at the AUC Woodruff Library Archives Research Center! ❤️ This summer, I’ve had the privilege of processing the incredible Michael & Claire Oliver African art book collection—helping preserve resources that will support teaching and research for years to come. 📖🖤

A huge thank you to everyone at the ARC and AUC Woodruff Library for welcoming me into your spaces, trusting me with this work, and giving me room to learn and grow. This experience has only strengthened my passion for archives, collections management, and preserving African cultural heritage. 🗂️🏛️

Enjoy a few of the beautiful books I’ve been processing and a little behind-the-scenes look at life in the archives! 📚🎥✨

💚 My heart is so full. 🎨

Today I had the honor of serving as the gallery host for Gene Dominique’s Still Here: African American Farmers in the 21st Century. 🖼️📷 It was also a privilege to introduce Gene’s artistic practice and speak on his behalf during the artist panel in his absence. 🎤

Thank you to everyone who stopped by the gallery today to support me. 🫶🏽 Seeing so many familiar faces throughout the day made this milestone even more special. 🤍

A special thank you to Dr. Taylor for thinking of me for this opportunity, and to Gene Dominique for trusting me to represent him. 🎨📸

If you weren’t able to make it today, the exhibition will remain on view through September 8, so there’s still plenty of time to experience this powerful body of work. 🖼️✨

Grateful for every step of this journey. 🖤 taken in Fulton County Library System - Central Library by @nubian_candy

Y’all, I’m so excited for this one! 💪🏾 ✊🏾❤️🖤💚💛

Back in November, I was introduced to a kindred spirit. Someone who shared my love for art, music, graffiti, street subculture, history, and all the conversations that live where culture and community intersect. The fact that he was also incredibly educated, knowledgeable, and deeply committed to preserving those stories made me appreciate his work even more.

That person was my CAU brother, Antar K. Fierce: the dopest cultural historian, photographer, filmmaker, and preservation advocate whose work preserves and amplifies the stories found where graffiti subculture, history, and popular culture meet. 🎨📸🎥

Now, I’m honored to be presenting alongside him at the Hapeville Depot Museum for Juneteenth: The Archiving Journey, part of a full day of Juneteenth programming and celebration.

Together, we’ll be talking about preserving family history, photographs, memories, and community stories because our histories deserve to be documented, protected, and remembered for future generations. ✊🏾📚🗂️✨
