It is hard to imagine how much land is standing empty and neglected on Union Street and it's just not OK. We made a scarf that shares more about the data on this and the spaces we are bringing back into use.

Data like this is too important to sit in a report hardly anyone will read. It needs to be out in communities so we can make change happen.

And our scarf has made it's way into @theboxplymouth for a few weeks as part of a project with @plymuni so you can go check it out for yourself! by @nudgecommunity

Just reflecting on what an awesome day it was this year for our 17th Union Street Party - the street was busy all day and filled with so much love.

We are so thankful to everyone who pulled together to make it happen, lots of local organisations doing wonderful activities plus great food, music and dancing.

A big thank you to @daniel.howard.baker for taking these shots of the street party.

Something a bit different is coming to Plymouth this October. 🍄

We're hosting a free writing workshop at @city.farm.house on National Mushroom Day, Thursday 15th October, 6–8.30pm, inside the incredible Urban Mushroom Farm at C103, the former nightclub transformed by @nudgecommunity builders.

The evening kicks off with a tour of the farm with Federico Buda, followed by a talk from Dr Kirsty Matthews Nicholass, Lecturer in Biology at the University of Plymouth, on the quiet, extraordinary world of fungi. Our Co-Director and Writer Laura Horton leads a writing session using it all as creative fuel. No experience is needed to attend, just curiosity.

This is the start of something bigger too; we'll be opening a competition for people to submit short plays themed around fungi, with selected pieces professionally performed at City Farm House in Spring 2027. We're very grateful to everyone who supported the crowdfunder and donated to the fundraising campaign. Thank you. We'll be announcing more soon.

THIS is Plymouth. 💙🌊

The Union Street Party was absolutely buzzing today. But more than anything, it was about community. People of every age and from every corner of the city coming together, taking up space, making things, dancing, talking, laughing and celebrating where we live. Incredible food, brilliant music, creativity, culture and that wonderful feeling of an entire street just being happy together.

And right in amongst it all was Tide Together 🌊 bringing the sea into the heart of the city with creative activities exploring the places where land and sea meet.

Because that’s really what Tide Together is about too: connection. To the ocean, to our city, to creativity and to each other.

What. A. Day.

This is what Plymouth feels like when we come together. 💙 Thanks @nudgecommunity and everyone else that made it happen.

Yay!! Fabulous party and we completed the tidal cycle artwork!!
So this reel needs an explanation.
This is Precious Plastic Plymouth recycling with the partygoers on Union Street today. We have an exercise bike converted into a shredder and then injection mould while you watch to make something new. Today we made buttons and added them to a tidal curve of Plymouth’s tides for this week.
We did this to engage people with the Intertidal project, an intriguing artwork by @davidcotterrell, with cars that respond to the tide, and to explain more about how tides work 😁🎶♻️
Crazy, fun, arts/science/sustainability mash up!

The 17th Union Street Party is packed away and the crowds of people who came along have hopefully had a great day filled with fun, music, good food and positive community vibes.

A massive thank you to all my @nudgecommunity colleagues and to all the incredible volunteers who give their time so generously some of them getting down to the street for 7am to put all the decor up and make it look so colourful and staying til late til everything is packed away.

It takes a lot of planning to pull this event together, a lot of favours and some wonderful trusted people who we work with year in and year out who help pull rabbits out of hats and help the day run smoothly.

A shoutout to all the super talented musicians, performers, to the food stalls who kept us well fed, the local charity’s and organisations who do kids activities and all the traders selling their wares - we couldn’t do it without you. There is so much love for this street and the Stonehouse community proves this time after time. ❤️
