One year of nursing experience, gaining confidence, unforgettable patients, and long lasting friendships…This year of residency has been the most rewarding roller coaster I’ve ever been on.
A year later, and I am still committed to my profession and grateful to say I still LOVE what I do, even with the challenges that come along with it. I’d be remiss to not acknowledge my village! I could not and would not be here today without you all! (debriefs otw home from my shifts truly are my favorite time of day lol) Year one was definitely one for the books #yearonedone✔️ #residency by @nursebaemorg

One whole year as RNs 🥹 I cannot believe we’ve been out of nursing school for a year now… I’ve learned soo much and am proud of how far I’ve come! My confidence grows every single shift… even the hard ones lol. This week I even had my first student! Preparation is key!
working out, meal prepping, and sleeping are not easy to do when working 12hr shifts (nights even more). These are things I’ve implemented to have successful shifts and balance life
- I meal prep 6 meals for work and to eat before I gts to successfully not eat junk.
- I’ve committed to at least 2 workout days no matter what.
- I strive to get as close to 8hrs of sleep everyday and heavy on daytime naps

Hey guys 🩷
Where do I even begin lol my last post was in Aug and I cannot believe are already on week 12 of residency. I get off of orientation in February and I can confidently say I am not nervous for that day to come! My preceptors are literally the best and the unit is so teamwork-oriented, which really makes me feel 100% supported. Being a lady of the night is where I belong :) I am now managing 2 patients and more critical situations. My preceptors let run the show but I always know they are a call away for help! Don’t get me wrong some nights are rough, but when you aren’t going through it alone and you genuinely love what you do, it makes the biggest difference. Here to say the light at the end of the tunnel (graduating nursing school) was 100% worth it!!

Hey guys 🩷
Just wanted to share some of the essentials needed for residency. Contingent on your unit, your supplies might differ but some of them are just standard. As I get into the flow of things, I will update what I actually use and need on a daily basis.

On June 16th, I passed my NCLEX and became a Registered Nurse! Blessed to say that I joined the 9% of Black nurses in the U.S. and will be starting residency in my dream specialty, labor and delivery 👶🏽🎀🤰🏽🩵. I can’t wait to advocate, support moms, and safely help bring little babies into this world!
