This is a huge moment for the student movement. Finally, the poorest students will not be plunged into the highest debt, but will instead be able to access maintenance grants whilst at university.

Thank you to every single student campaigner who has worked to make maintenance grants a reality over the last decade. Without you, we would never have achieved this. The government has announced the reintroduction of maintenance grants in HE in England. taken in Liverpool, United Kingdom by @nus_uk

We think students should be able to register with a GP at home AND at university!🩺

@nusu_wellbeing is working alongside @communityyorksu and @lewis_nusvphe phe to campaign for students to have the right to register with two GPs, one at home and one at uni, so you can access the medical care you need all year round because moving away to study shouldn’t mean struggling to get medication or having to travel home for healthcare.

But we need your help! We’re asking you to contact your MP and ask them to back the right for students to register with two GPs. You can find out who your MP is and use our email template via the link in our bio! 📩 by @nus_uk

Okayyy, I’m a little late posting this one! But a huge thank you to @leedscitycollege for inviting us to your Freshers! 🎉💙

We had such a lovely time the energy, engagement and vibes were amazing! 🙌 Leeds is definitely one of the most engaged colleges, and we loved meeting and chatting with so many students.

Thank you for having us! Looking forward to working closely with you all. ✊🏻💙

Happy UK Black History Month

This October, I’m spotlighting the Black students leading across our students’ unions, universities and communities: the volunteers, the student staff, the student union officers, the founders, the organisers.

When I think of this month, I think of our rich history, and the excellence that rose from it. Black excellence was never given. We built it, brick by brick, in rooms not designed for us to stay in and I’m so proud that we’re not waiting for permission to be brilliant.

So I’m launching a spotlight series: a month of celebrating the Black-led student societies, businesses and initiatives shaping student life, and the people behind them.

Kicking us off: @wetheacsn the African & Caribbean Students’ Network and @isaac_president, SU President at Northumbria Student Union, with his event themed “From Roots to Routes: A Black Career Journey”

Know a Black-led society, business or initiative? Comment their name below. I’m reading every one. 👇🏾 by @nus_uk
